Welcome to ICP Chemistry! Chemistry is the study of matter. As we travel

particles, states of matter, density, chemical reactions, and so much more! This
is going to be so much fun! I hope you all had an amazing summer and are excited
to be back at school. I am incredibly excited to welcome you all to my class and

Assignments:
➢ The majority of work for my class will be done during class time. However, if an in class activity
does not get finished it will be assigned as homework. I also reserve the right to assign
homework if I feel that you are in need of extra practice.
➢ It is your responsibility to make up your work when you have been absent. You will find any work
that has been assigned in your class box at the student center and posted on my website. For
make-up work you will have the number of days you missed to turn it in for full credit (ie. Miss 2
days, you will have 2 days to turn in the assignment). However, do not forget that it is YOUR
responsibility to make sure you ask about and retrieve all of the work that was completed in your
absence.
➢ Due dates are created for a reason. This is part of the real world training that you are receiving in
your high school career. That being said, you may turn in an assignment ONE day late to receive
½ credit. After one day the assignment will be given a zero. If you are absent the day an
assignment is due I will expect to have it the day you return to class.

Evaluations:
All formal tests and quizzes will be announced ahead of time. I like students to have the time to properly
prepare for formal assessments. That being said there will be regular “questionnaires” that I will administer to
gauge student progress in an informal way. These will help me assess how well you comprehend the material and
how effectively I am teaching it. Be aware that I not only assess your performance in the classroom, but mine as
well. I will always do my best to try new things, keep what works, and throw out what doesn’t. In my classroom I
hope to always learn as much from you as you learn from me.

If you have any questions regarding these rules and procedures do not
hesitate to ask! I can also be reached through email on my website or
Classcraft. I want to welcome you once again to CHS and especially to my
classroom! When you walk through my door you enter a world where we are
all teachers, we are all students, and we are definitely all scientists. This year
will be an adventure for all of us in room 221 and I can’t wait!
