A387 Gr 11 /12 /22

Firma, Abteilung, Folie 51,

Heavy Plate Symposium 2008
Background

Conventional production method for A387 Gr. 12/11 steels:

Normalizing at 910 °C (1670°F)
Tempering at 650°C -700°C (1200-1292°F)

Problem: Requirements (due to design reasons or of HAZ max hardness)

for higher tempering temperature can not be guaranteed.
Diffusions processes lead to microstructures which change
the material properties.

Solution: Accelerated cooling and tempering
