Course Expectations
Lifelong success often depends on learning to make responsible choices. With this in mind, I have
developed a classroom discipline plan that enables every student to make good decisions about his or her
behavior.
Expectations:
I will be in my seat before the tardy bell rings.
I will have two sharpened pencils & notebook paper on my desk at all times.
I will always have my planner, Interactive Notebook, & iPad with me every day.
I will show respect to other people and their property both in my words and in my actions.
I will respect the rights of the learner to learn and the teacher to teach.
I will obey all school rules, classroom procedures, and adult instructions.
In short, I will be Prompt, Prepared, Polite, Respectful, and Responsible.
**Read the school handbook thoroughly. All rules and regulations in the handbook will be strictly
adhered to.
Classroom Consequences:
I will follow the T. A. Howard PBIS order of consequences each six weeks.
**Severe infractions will be immediately referred to the office.**
Positive Reinforcement
To encourage students to follow classroom expectations, I will recognize and reinforce appropriate
behavior with special recognition, class rewards, privileges, good citizenship grades, positive notes, and/or
phone calls to parents/guardians.
Classroom Procedures
1. Pick up papers on the table in the front of the room
2. Copy Agenda board in planner
3. Be in your seat before the tardy bell rings
4. Start Warm-Up
5. Introduce, explore, and practice new topic
6. Assign homework
Grading Policy
60 % - Major Grades (Test & Projects)
30 % - Quiz
10 % - Daily & Homework
Class Participation
Class participation is a key to success in my classroom. Students should be actively engaged in all class
activities. Failure to do so will reflect in their grades.
Absences
When you return to my class after an absence, you need to check the “While You Where Out” folder
for anything you may have missed. You will have one class day for every day you were absent to
make up the work. When complete, turn assignment into the class turn in tray. Do not hand it to me
or place it on my desk. It is your responsibility to come to me for help before the assignment is due.
Late Work
All assigned work is given for the purpose of increasing student learning and preparing students for
demonstration of proficiency on assessments. Therefore, my expectation is that all students will turn in all
assigned work on the day that it is due. My policy is "Best Work. First Time. On Time. Every Time."
Should there be extenuating circumstances and the assignment is not complete on the day that it is due; I
will accept late work in accordance to the district policy. One day late will result in a 15 point reduction.
Two days late will result in an additional 15 point reduction (total of 30 points). Three days late is an
additional 15 point reduction (total of 45 points). After three days the assignment will be a zero.
I will not accept an assignment more than three days late.
Electronic Devices
iPads & cell phones do have a place in my classroom. Most days school issued iPads will be used.
Students on websites or apps that are not being used for instructional purposes will receive
consequences & devices will be confiscated and turned into the office for parents to pick up. Being
caught with an electronic device during a test will result in an automatic 0 (zero) on the test.
