ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We student from SJK(T) Perai, are preparing a science fair project name ‘ Hydraulic
Caterpillar’. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mrs Gayathree who
guided us through out this project. We are also thankful to all the science teachers for
explaining on critical aspect of topic related to the project. We would like to thank Mr
Arvind also, who help us to complete the project. We also would like to thank our
headmistres Mrs Tamil Selvi who give us chance to take part in this competition. We
dont want to miss our PIBG, who have sponser our project.

INTRODUCTION
In this project hydraulic power is used as the main component. Hydraulic power, also
called Fluid Power, power transmitted by the controlled circulation of pressurized fluid,
usually a water-soluble oil or water–glycol mixture, to a motor that converts it into a
mechanical output capable of doing work on a load. Hydraulic power systems have
greater flexibility than mechanical and electrical systems and can produce more power
than such systems of equal size. They also provide rapid and accurate responses to
controls. As a result, hydraulic power systems are extensively used in modern aircraft,
automobiles, heavy industrial machinery, and many kinds of machine tools.
In our innovation, we use hydraulic power to move an object from one place to another
place. We can use this project to save energy and control pollution.

TOOLS / MATERIALS
pieces of wood
Electric drill
Screws
Screwdriver
Washers
Nuts
two plastic 50-mL syringes
3 plastic 20ml syringes
clear plastic tubing that fit the syringe tips
Scissors
Water
small objects.
SAFETY PRECAUTION
6
EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE
8. Push the plunger all the way into the fixed syringe so that there’s no air in the
syringe. Attach the open end of the water-filled tube firmly to the tip of this
syringe. Be sure there are no large air bubbles anywhere in the system.
7
RESULT/OBSERVATION
The object is carried by the arm using syringe when the plunger is pushed .
DISCUSSION
Pushing on the plunger applies pressure on the water in the movable syringe. Since the
water is confined and incompressible, Pascal’s principle comes into play, telling us that
the pressure is transmitted undiminished to all parts of the water and to the walls of its
container. Since the plunger of the fixed syringe at the other end of the tube forms part
of the “container” for the water, and is the only part of the container that can expand, the
pressure causes the plunger in the fixed syringe to move.

CONCLUSION
Our innovation can make the work easier especially in a industrial area. Hydraulic arm
can be used in a production and packaging field. The innovation is very easy to repair
and the design also very cheap. The project also only need a small area to set up. It is
easy to control . The important fact about the project is it is using renewable energy.
