Something really important to note when you purchase textures like these is that your computer screen can’t handle how textured they are while you're previewing them in the folder, as they’re so high in resolution, large in size with lots of detail. You may think you've received blurry files, but fear not, you just have to zoom in to the image to see the clear texture. Think of it like looking at a piece of glitter cardboard that’s on the opposite side of the street. You won't be able to see it clearly until you're right up close :) Thave included all textures in a smaller size as well, as I've found free programs like Canva can automat you load them in. ally reduce the quality of high resolution images when On the following pages you'll find how to add your new textures easily into text and shapes in Photoshop. MY GO-TO FAVORITES MARBLE = [¢ ‘e/ NOTE PAPER Opening a texture image is easy. Go to File > Open and select a texture image from the folder you downloaded. Otherwise, you can drag any image straight from the downloaded folder into the working space in Photoshop and it will be ready to start using. IL If there’s one thing in Photoshop that will be your best friend when it comes to working with textures, its a Clipping Mask. This is the way you drop texture straight into a font, shape or border in just a few clicks. Let's start by creating a new document. Go to File > New and set your dimensions to 1000px by 1000px with a white background. You will now have an easy white square to work in First we will add a marble background, which always looks classy. Find a marble texture in your download (one of the lighter ones) and open it up in Photoshop. Click on the marble image and drag it up to the tab of the new document, hold it there over the tab, until the document opens, then drop it down onto the white workspace you created. GLICK AND DRAG THIS MARBLE IMAGRABOVE TO HOLD IT OVER THE TAE ‘OF YOUR NEW DOCUMENT UNTIL ID OPENS, As we created a document space that is smaller than the texture image, you will only see a portion of the texture when it’s dropped into that space. Ifyou want to see the whole texture on your document, you can: Zoom out using CTRL and - on your keyboard so you can see your whole working space. Press V on your keyboard, which starts the move tool. Click a corner point of the texture image and drag it inwards, holding the Shift key on your keyboard at the same time so it retains its shape. HOLDING THE SHIFT KEY ON YOUR KENBOARD, Now that your background has the look you want, press T on your keyboard to use the Type tool. Type out any word you like on top of the marble. Open up a texture you would like the writing to be in, preferably a darker one. Rose gold looks great on marble, so I'll be using one of my favorite rose golds. Once again, drag the texture you've just opened onto your document. Make sure in the Layers panel that the new texture is sitting above the Type layer, If you can’t see the Layers panel on the right, press F7 on your keyboard and it will pop up. In the Layers panel, right click on the texture you've just added and from the options that show up, click “Create Clipping Mask” The texture will drop straight into the layer that is underneath, which is your text! ke more of a crisp look to my rose gold t, so I will zoom out (CTRL and -) so can see the hounding box of the rose gold hello texture, click on the corner and drag it in (holding SHIFT) until I've reduced the size down, clicking on the tick button at the top when I’m done. Sometimes the close up look of a texture looks better, but in this case, I prefer this texture reduced in size. Its all about experimenting and finding out what looks best with each individual texture. hello h llo You can do this Right Click > Clipping Mask trick with any word, shape, or clipart image. As long as in the Layers panel, the texture is just above the object you want to drop it into, it will work! it out with one of the borders or splashes you received in this pack. Place one of those onto a new document first, then drag a texture on top, clipping mask it in and voila! [he SpOMS You will find a great selection of hand-painted splash clipart in your download, and there's several ways you can use these! You can follow the Clipping Mask steps I mentioned previously to drop any texture you like into one. You may need to make the splash smaller before you add the texture for the best look. You can also place one on a document and press CTRL and U on your keyboard, which will give you the Hue, Saturation and Lightness options. Move the Lightness bar all the way to the right to change the splash to white. Another way you can use these splashes is as Photoshop Brushes. To turn one into a brush: 1. Open up a splash in Photoshop: 2. In the top menu, go to Edit > Define Brush 3. Now it should be in your Brush tool, so if you hover in the workspace, you should see it on your mouse, ready to use as a stamping brush. You can select any color you like to paint with this new brush.
