CHAPTER 1

The Problem and Its Background

Introduction

Job satisfaction is the level of contentment a person feels

regarding his or her job. This feeling is mainly based on an

individual's perception of satisfaction. Job satisfaction can be

influenced by a person's ability to complete required tasks, the

level of communication in an organization, and the way

management treats employees. Employee satisfaction is essential

to the success of any business. Thus, keeping employees

satisfied with their careers should be a major priority of the

employer.

Job satisfaction describes how an individual is contended

with his job. It is a set of favorable or unfavorable feelings

and emotions on which the employees views their work. Jos

satisfaction is an effective attitude-a feeling of relative like

or dislike toward something.

Many people view work as very important and desirable goal

in life. They tend to like work and derive satisfaction from it.

It usually has a stronger commitment to the organization

and to its goal when they are satisfied with their job. This

characteristic of work values is highly appealing to the

employer.

Work is defined as any activity involving mental of

physical effort done in order to achieve a result. For many

years much of the culture of the Western world has emphasized

work as a desirable fulfilling activity. This attitude is also a

strong in parts of Asia, such as Japan. The result of this

culture emphasis is a Work Values.

Values are not only complicated by the nature because they

may be meeting and conflicting with other values but also they

may be rooted in divergent interest.

A work values is a set of values based on hard work and

diligence. It is also a belief in the moral benefit of work and

its ability to enhance character.

Therefore, an employee who has a work values, tend people

to pursue and attain goals to have a better performance and

productivity resulting work with high level of satisfaction.

Background of the Study

The researchers conduct their research work at McDonald’s

Agorra, San Juan.

The study was conducted because of the researchers interest

in finding out the relationship of the The Level of job

Satisfaction and Work values of McDonalds. With this perception,

it can be benefited for the students to understand the impact of

work values to job satisfaction.

Conceptual Framework

To lead the researchers in the conduct of the study, the

conceptual framework has been made. The conceptual framework is

presented in figure 1.

The input shows the profile of the respondents including;

age, gender and civil status, length of service of employees and

the survey questionnaire.

The process shows how the gathering of data through survey,

questionnaire, tabulating result interpreting and analyzing

data.

The output shows the result of the research of the level of

satisfaction and work values of employees based on the work

values questionnaire.

Statement of the Problem

The study aims to determine. The Level of Job Satisfaction


and Work Values of Crew members at Mc Donald’s Agorra, San Juan.

Specifically, the study sought to answer the following:

1. What is the profile of respondents in terms of:

1.1 Age

1.2 Gender

1.3 Civil Status and

1.4 Length of Service

2. What is the Level of Job Satisfaction of the respondents with


regards to work values?

2.1 Morale at work

2.2 Performances at work

2.3 Interpersonal relationship

3. Is there a significant relationship between each of the


profile variables and the Job Satisfaction Level of the
respondents with respect to the variable stated above?

Hypothesis

The following Hypothesis is considered in the conduct of


the study and tested at .05 level of significance.

There is no significant relationship each of the profile


variables and the Level of Job Satisfaction of Crew Members of
Mc Donald’s.

Scope and Limitations

The study was conducted at McDonalds Agorra, San Juan to


assess the job satisfaction of the crew members from all
departments. It includes 30 selected crew members of McDonalds
Agorra, San Juan. The researcher used sets of questionnaires

that are answerable by Outstanding, Very Satisfactory, Moderate,


Fair and Poor.

Significance of the Study

The result of the study was very convenient to the


following people:

The Management. This study will help them develop their


managerial skills and will give ideas how to become a more
responsible and concerned with their employees, resulting to a
productive and be more ready to handle and provide accurate
actions as problem occurs in the workplace.

The Students. The study will give them factual information


that they could use for their future careers and will also help
them be familiar with problems and situations that may be exist
on their workplace.

The Researchers. The study will further improve their


learning and develop a profound perspective on the issue and
realize the importance of employee job satisfaction on the
productivity and development of an organization.
