Quiet Time

What is Quit Time?

It is simply a time for us to get away and build a relationship with God. As in any good
relationship, getting to know someone and growing to love and trust them takes time. It
means setting aside time each day to be alone with God-just you and God –no one else, no
radio, no TV. It is our daily appointed time with God, away from nagging responsibilities and
distractions.

Why do we need QT?

In order to build our relationship with the loving God who created us and knows us better
than anyone.
Listen- We try to listen how God is speaking to us from His Word through His Holy Spirit to
seek His guidance to be and live like Christ.
Example from Jesus Christ. Mk 1:35
Dr Luke records eight occasions when Jesus prayed. Mostly Jesus chose the morning hour
when he was most fresh. We see there is always interdependence in both the Father and
the Son.(Jn 5:19-20).It seems Jesus feels the need of having unceasing communion with
the Father everyday. He received renewed strength, renewed encouragement and
instructions everyday from the Father. He came into the day with authority and confidence.
How much more do we need to spend QT with the Lord?
What are the materials required for the QT?
It is best to find a quiet place and get away by yourself. Bring your Bible, Pen, Note Book
and get comfortable and prepare to meet with God.
How to select the passage?
Preferably start with the first four Gospels and followed by Epistles and others. Select a
book and read it systematically at least a chapter. But try to prevent from becoming
mechanical.
How to spend time in Prayer?
You may follow the ACTS pattern
A for Adoration ( aaradhana): What aspects of God ‘s character do I want to praise God
for today?
C for Confession(paap sweekar): What specific area of my life do I want to confess to
God ,repent and ask for God’s help in conquering?
T for Thanksgiving (dhanyavaad): What specifically do I want to thank God for ,today?
S for Supplication(prarthana ka Vishay): In what area of my life do I want God to help
me in? Is there anything that I need today to bring more glory to God?
