LESSON PLAN FOR KINDERGARTEN

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

a. group animals according to where they live;


b. count up to 10;
c. skip count by 2’s;
d. express their ideas on the importance of taking care animal homes.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Animals live in different places.


Materials:
 Pictures of animals
 Illustration of forest, farm and ocean
 Pencil
 Crayons
 Animal habitat memory game cards
 Pictures of fishes, and frogs
 fishing rod
 animal play accessories
 playdough
 worksheet with fish outline
 paint

sa kalooban, pagtanggap ng pagkapanalo nang may kababaang loob (KAKPS-00-19)

III. Procedure

A. Circle Time
 National Anthem
 Prayer
 Sing a song from the “Superbook”.
 Routine Energizers
 The teacher will lead the routine song with dances to energize the learners.
 The teacher and the students will sing:
-Kumusta ka?
-Kung Ikaw ay Masaya
-Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
-Ang Buhok
 The students will gather in the center.
 Greetings
 Checking of Attendance
 The teacher will check the attendance of the students by singing a song “Asa ang
mga babae? Asa ang mga babae?”. The girls will stand up and sing “Nia mi, nia
mi”. The teacher will then sing “Kamusta man mo karon? Kamusta man mo
karon?”. The girls will also sing “Maayo man, maayo man.” The same also goes
with the boys.
 Weather Check
 The teacher will ask the students to check the weather today by looking outside
the window.
 The teacher will ask a student what is the weather today and construct on the
board the sunny day weather using the weather manipulative board.
 What Day is Today?
 The teacher will then tell the students the date today. The students will then
repeat what is the date today.
 The teacher will tell to the students what day is today and the students will
repeat it three times.
 The teacher will tell the students what day will be tomorrow and the students
will repeat the day tomorrow three times.
 Classroom Rules
 The teacher will remind again the students on their classroom rules.
-Rule no. 1: Raise your hand if you want to answer.
-Rule no. 2: Listen to the teacher always.
-Rule no. 3: Sit properly.

B. Meeting Time 1
 The teacher will ask again the students about the animals that they have already
seen in their environment.
 The teacher will tell the students that animals also have homes like us humans and it
help them to survive in this world.
 The teacher will tell the students that animals live either in farm, forest or ocean.
 The teacher will present the illustration of a forest, farm and ocean.
 The teacher will let the students pick a picture of an animal in the front and classify
it if it lives in farm, forest or ocean.
 The teacher will discuss again to the students the animals that live in a farm, forest
and ocean.

C. Work Period 1
Teacher-Supervised Activity: Animal Mural
 The teacher will group the learners into four:
- Group 1: land-forest
- Group 2: land-farm
- Group 3: water
- Group 4: air/sky
 Each group will draw the habitat assigned to them on the Manila paper: top for
air/sky, middle for water, bottom for land.
 They will draw the things they see in the habitat like tress in the forest, barn in the
farm, etc.
 Using the animals they drew yesterday, the groups will choose which animals live in
their assigned habitat and paste these accordingly.

Independent Activities
1. Table 1 “Playdough Animals”
 The teacher will let the learners mold animals out of playdough.
 Encourage them to also build the habitat of the animals: forest, farm, ocean etc.

2.Table 2 “Animal Name Memory Game”


 The teacher will let the learners read the animal names.
 Shuffle them and put them face down on the table.
 Each learner will open two cards and check if the words are the same. If yes, the
learner can open two more cards until s/he encounters two cards that are not
the same.
 When s/he opens two cards and they do not match, s/he returns it face down
and the next player takes his/her turn.
 The game ends when all the cards have been matched, with the winner being the
learner with the most number of pairs.

3. Table 3 “Sand/ Water Play”


 The teacher will let the learners construct animal homes using sand and water
and available play accessories.
 Encourage them to use the plastic or rubber animals as accessories or props.

D. Supervised Recess (Snack Time)


1. The teacher will tell the students to start packing away the materials they used.
2. The teacher will let the students have their snacks on their assigned table.
3. The teacher will first instruct the children to wash their hands before eating.
4. The teacher will ask a student to pray for their food.
5. The teacher will make sure that all the children have their snacks.
6. The teacher will instruct the students to clean their table after eating.

E. Quiet Time
1. The teacher will say “It’s nap time!. She will then count 1 up to 10 to make the
students go to their table and nap.
2. The teacher will turn off the lights of the room and let the children lean on the table
and close their eyes.
3. The teacher will play a lullaby song for the students to relax for a while.
3. After five minutes, the teacher would clap her hands three times and say “It’s time to
wake up!”.
4. The children will open their eyes and so the teacher would turn on the lights.

F. Story Time
 The teacher will read a story that is related to animals to the students.
 The teacher will tell the students what is the title of the story and ask some
motive questions to the students about the story.
 After reading the story, the teacher will then ask the students some
comprehension questions to determine if they understand the story.

G. Work Period 2
Teacher-Supervised Activity: Animals and their Homes
 Divide the class into three groups- land, water, land and water.
 The learners will choose an animal according to the animal home assigned to them.
 The learners will be given Manila paper to create their own poster by drawing the
animal assigned to them.
 The children will draw 2 animals in each group until they complete the 10 animals.
 The children will present their drawing in front while also reciting skip counting by
2 using the poster that they made.

Independent Activities
1. Table 1 “Counting by 2’s”
 Place the logs and frogs on the table.

 Let the children place the number of frogs on the corresponding logs.

2. Table 2 “ Finger Print fish scales”


 The teacher will give each child paint and worksheet with fish outline.
 The learners will dip their fingers in the paint and put 5 finger prints on each
fish.
 They can use this as poster to review counting by 5’s.

3. Table 3 “Modified Fishing Game”


 The teacher will group the learners and place the fishes on the floor.
 Each child take turns to pick up card.
 S/He reads the number sentence on the card.
 Ask the child to pick up the corresponding answer among the fish on the floor
using the fishing rod.

H. Indoor/Outdoor Games
“Habitat Line”
 The teacher will present a picture of an animal to the students.
 The students will identify the animal and where it lives.
 If it lives in farm, the students will go to the line intended for animals. The same goes
for forest and ocean.
 The student who got mistake will be out of the game.

I. Meeting Time 3
 The teacher will ask the students to get back on their seats.
 The teacher will present again the illustrations of farm, forest and ocean.
 The teacher will ask the students about the animals that live in farm, forest and
ocean.
 The teacher will let the learners pack away their things to prepare them for
dismissal.
 The teacher together with the learners will pray before leaving the school.
