Stress occurs due to the release and deficiency of norepinephrine (noradrenaline)

chronic. When stress occurs continuously, it can cause early symptoms of depression. Health
problems that can arise due to stress one of them is the problem of mental disorder. Mental
disorders that often arises is depression, cognitive disorders, phobias, and alcohol use
disorders. Depression in women is more common than men. Depression is a common mental
disorder that presents with depressed mood, loss of interest or pleasure, decreased energy,
feelings of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite, and poor concentration.
Depression has a significant impact on an individual’s ability to perform life activities. (
Carla,2007)

Depression is a state of mild mental illness in which everyone can feel the feelings
that are often described in terms of sadness and grief. People with depression can not heal
itself, so if untreated depression may gain weight. Depression can be a symptom, a syndrome,
and their diagnosis and the extent of psychosocial stressors can trigger the mental disorder.
Psychosocial factors that influence depression, has been shown in a study by Widiatmoko in
Carla that social support has a high negative correlation and meaningful to the onset of the
symptoms of elderly depression. Depression occurs more in older age and lower family
support. This factor is a problem that is very vulnerable to burden the lives of the elderly that
can affect physical disorder, social, and mental health. Seeing the people attitude towards him
is the impact of depression. Other impacts that may occur if depression is left and not handled
properly, could make the elderly desire to injure themselves or even commit suicide.
