FRETILIN Parliamentary Bench Greets H.E. President of Republic

FRETILIN Parliamentary Bench, through its leaders; Bench President Dr.

Aniceto Longuinhos Guterres Lopes, Vice-Presidents: Representative Francisco
Miranda Branco and Representative Josefa Alvares Pereira, today 14
September 2018 had an audience with H.E. President of Republic Dr. Francisco
Guterres at the Presidential Palace in Bairo-Pite, Dili.

Branco states, "the FRETILIN Bench meets His Excellency President of Republic
to greet the President following the debate of the 2018 State Budget."

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Parliamentary Bench leaders also

inform the President of Republic of the position FRETILIN took at the National
Parliament during the 2018 General State Budget recently passed by the
Parliament.

"We make use of this meeting to inform the President of Republic of the
contribution, the role and the position the FRETILIN Parliamentary Bench took
at the Parliament during the 2018 General State Budget," Representative
Branco continues.

"In view of the current economic and social situation of the country, FRETILIN
Parliamentary Bench took the position of not getting in the way of the budget
for this year and contributed constructively to ensure the budget responds well
and adequately to the needs of the country and of the people, even though

the Parliamentarians from the Benches forming the government imposing their
majority by merely voting against everything presented by the opposition,"
Representative Branco says.

The leaders of the FRETILIN Bench also inform the President of Republic that
FRETILIN maintains its conviction and position that the National Parliament
should be the place where politicians continuously search and find consensus
to all the matters important to the interest of the country and of the people.

Representative Francisco Branco states that "FRETILIN will continue to do all it

could to ensure the National Parliament becomes a place where politicians
finding consensus for the good of the nation of the people."

"As an opposition bench, FRETILIN Parliamentary Bench has shown and will
continue to practice and show to the politicians what a constructive and
educative opposition is all about," Representative Branco concludes.
