Dear Ms. Jones:

I am a Stanford University junior majoring in Economics with a minor in Math. I am ready for a
summer analyst internship with John Pierpont because I am a driven and achievement-oriented
individual with previous investment banking experience.

I developed a skill set at San Francisco Partners this past summer that I believe prepares me well
for the summer analyst position. As a client-sourcing analyst, I studied the banking technology
space to evaluate potential clients and pitched top opportunities to the V.P of my sector. I
became proficient in power point and excel in order to create pitch-books and research guides. I
also sat down and spoke with the company’s top management to learn about the company’s
operations and competition from a high-level perspective. My internship at San Francisco
Partners was an excellent opportunity to learn about the investment banking business and to
develop my ability to prepare client materials.

I first learned about John Pierpoint through the Goodventure Competition where my team
pitched our nonprofit, Gumball Capital, to a board of senior bankers in the final rounds.
Preparing a presentation and flying to New York to pitch to some of America’s top bankers was
a thrilling opportunity. I soon spoke to several analysts to learn more about the firm. Seema Palla
and Sarah Zhou in FIG discussed their career paths, the culture of the firm, and provided advice.
Rain Wyles in M&A helped me understand the M&A product and how the group works with
other coverage sectors. Rosebeth Mason and Kevin Chang from ECM taught me about their
convertibles product and how the ECM group is interconnected with coverage and sales. After
learning about firm in this light, I am positive I want to work with John Pierpont and join with
the amazing individuals who have taken the time to help me start my career.

With my previous finance experience and driven, achievement-oriented personality, I am ready

to be the analyst coming in not only ready to learn, but ready to outperform. I would be delighted
to work with John Pierpont.
