JOURNAL ON FIRST WEEK 31 AUGUST – 04 SEPTEMBER

(SD TUMBUH 3)
At the first week on September I just get observation in each class to know how the
lesson is going on. SD Tumbuh 3 Yogyakarta build 3 years ago. This is information that I get
from my observation. In SD Tumbuh 3 or we can called Tumbuh Primary School use
curriculum 2006 (KTSP) and IPC (International Primary Curriculum) so for the lesson plan
they mix that. Lesson plan written by them for 1 week, so on Thursday 2 curriculum teacher’s
make it and separate it to the others teacher. Teacher can make own lesson plan according the
lesson plan from curriculum teacher. In each class there are have small clases it has 10-18
students. SD Tumbuh 3 have 2 teachers in every class, there are 4 interval class. Preparotory
(Prep A & B) in one class, Lower (Lower A or grade 1& B or grade 2), Middle (Middle A or
grade 3 & B or grade 4), and Upper (grade 5 & 6) in one class. Thay can choosen the class
that they like according that interval but on IPC, PE (physical Education), Religion, and
Literacy Indonesia they can move but on math, and PKn I still confused about that I ask my
mentor bur I still confused. I will tell next week for make sure. But my mentor talk that the
want to make a single class not switch again. The class started from 08.00-08.30 for morning
carpet. In morning carpet we can uses ice breaking, dancing, singing, or ask students what
they have in last day the purpose of morning carpet is to make students focus on the lesson,
interest and ready for the lesson. at 08.30-09.40 for lesson, 09.40-10.00 Snack Break, 10.00-
11.30 for second lesson, at 11.30-12.30 lunch praying, and 12.30-13.45 third lesson. For
teacher they must arrived at 07.30 and doing brefing. And the end they must meet together at
13.45-15.00 to do day carpet. They have WA group to concult about the parents things and
comunicate book to announce the information and what the child learn.

For my observation they have bad classroom management. The switch class can make
disturb the other class for example, when in lower A the lesson is going on some students
from lower B entered to the class for drinking. In each class have 2 special students. it can
disturb the other class there are students that craying, and very violent so other friends
disturbed by them and make a normal students not comfortable. SD Tumbuh 3 as inclusive
school so they accept the differentiation started from religion and background. When I get
observe in middle b I saw when teacher explain the material, he didn’t focus for all students.
so it make some students read the other book, walk around, sleep on the floor and playing
together. Teacher just focus on one students that writing on the board it make some students
bored. Teacher not address them quickly, so make the class very noisy and un control.
Several teachers called students “teman-teman” or “guys” it make students feels on same
level from teacher so they don’t obeidient. Several teacher used manipulative to make
students interest with the lesson for example using toys but for autism students it is not
appropiate. When teacher used it autism students always playing with his toys and when
teacher take his toys he is craying and struggle. Several teachers can’t handle and control well
in their students.

I think it is not condusive for they have a interval class, they need separate class.
Especially for upper grade because they just have one room and they combined it one class
(grade 5 & 6) Make the students to used library for learn and make habbit to reading the
books so the library looks not empty. Every snach and lunch time they have same menu from
canteen they eat together so it can try students to be together “unity in diversity”. SD Tumbuh
3 have small building, so some students play in other class that they want. the environment of
learning, they can used environment nicely. For example ask students to find pepble beside
class for manipulative.

At the first I get a shock but at second day i can accept the habbit. there are have
many characteristics of students. but overall in they include on hyperactive students. At the
break time they always run, scream, I think that when they play together it is over limits and
no teacher that remind them. Every week we have meeting so we can concult what we must
do and the progress also problem from our class. For this one weeks I can interact better with
several teacher.

For my future, i will apply the discipline, make a rule that they must obedient little by
litle. I will always remind my students to act good attitude for example when teacher explain
the material they must focus. I will uses rule like if they want say something they must raise
thair hands first, and uses the rule to make they be calm like “middle A listening” they must
say “I’m listening” then they quet. I will used that I get from you miss.Janelle, I will apply it.
Thank you, from differentiation course I get much information to treated my students. for my
autism students I will give them a clear explanation and schedule. For ADHD students I will
make them doing activity that help teacher and other students maybe help their students to
understand the material because ADHD that I met they are smart. I will called my students
with “students”.

For first week I can’t submit the lesson plant and students worksheet, because we just
get obserb and some teacher not introduce me so I just sit on my chair. I’m sorry miss when I
obserb at the class I play my cellfone because I feels so bored and my head feels whirling. :D
. I just help miss.Ika (my mentor) and miss.Widy (the Principle) class. And at when I
introduce my self at middle A there are special students that hug me and bootlicker me I’m so
repugnant about that. :’( . for placement we have different class from first because Miss.Ika
will choose again according the class needs and her obserb. In next month I suggested miss
for obserb the class and the environment pretend that miss want to saw our teaching. Hehe :D
