Description
The 3300 XL Ceramic Capped Probe is a state-of-the-art solution for monitoring
machinery in aggressive chemical or high-pressure environments. The alumina
cap and 304 stainless steel probe case provide robust protection and increased
life for applications in anhydrous ammonia or other extreme pH environments.
The ceramic capped probe is compatible with the 3300 XL Proximitor® Sensor
and extension cable.
Our Bently Nevada ceramic-capped probes are rated to 34 Bar (500 psi)
pressure. Modifications are available for applications involving higher pressures.
Probes 146054,146055, & 164517 were developed for applications where only
the front of the probe case assembly is exposed to corrosive gases and liquids.
The ceramic probe assemblies without the rear fitting and stainless steel tubing
(146054, 146055, and 164517) prevent corrosive gases and liquids from entering
the front end of the probe case. The front-end ceramic to metal interface is
helium leak tested to ensure a hermetic seal. The rear of the probes are NOT
sealed and must NOT be exposed to destructive environments (e.g. water, NH3,
NH4OH, Hydrogen Sulfide, etc.)
The ceramic probe assembly with the rear fitting and stainless steel tubing
(146056) prevents corrosive gases and liquids from entering the front and rear of
the probe case. The front-end ceramic to metal interface is helium leak tested to
ensure a hermetic seal. The fitting at the rear end of the probe leaves the factory
unsealed. The tubing and the fittings can be disconnected from the probe case
and slid out of the way while the probe is being electrically gapped and installed.
Once the probe is secured and gapped correctly, the fittings should be tightened.
This completely seals the rear of the probe.

electrically and avoid contact with the target
surface.
Configuring the monitor when using ceramic-
capped probes requires extra care. Due to the shift
in the curve from that of a standard 3300 XL probe,
the probe tip may contact the shaft before the lower
OK limit is reached. A monitor modification may be
required to accommodate this condition.
