World Communion Offering
Around the globe, countless gifted and qualified people face financial
obstacles that hinder them from preparing for the vocation God has
given them. You are encouraged to give generously on World

around the globe to become the world-changers God created them to

For Our Youngest Friends
and Their Parents
A professionally staffed nursery is available for children birth through
age three during all services and Sunday School on the lower level. An
usher will be happy to direct you. Additionally, a Parent Room is
available in the Parlor adjacent to the Sanctuary, for viewing and hearing
all services. Please ask an usher to show you the way. All restrooms are
equipped with changing tables.
Sunday Children's Worship
During 9am and 11am Services
Calling all children! Sunday September 9th, children 3 years old through
5th grade are invited to come and be a part of our new Children's Worship
time downstairs following the Children's Message. There they will have
opportunities to encounter God through scripture, music, prayers, and
other meaningful and fun ways. Elementary-age children will return to
the sanctuary and gather with the congregation for the benediction each
week. At 9am, Pre-Schoolers move to their 10:10am Sunday School

Children's Sunday School
Sunday School, a time of bible discovery with friends, invites all children
to come and learn at 10:10am. Lynn Bremer leads the elementary class
(Room 106) and Sherry Bryant leads our all new Preschool/Kindergarten
class (Room 110). Classrooms are found in the Education Wing.
Joyful Noise Singers
Children (grades 3-6) are invited to gather in the Sanctuary from 12:15-
12:30 (by the organ after 11am service) with Rafael. This will be a time
for the children to learn more about music and rehearse for upcoming
opportunities to sing in worship as they glorify God. Contact Rafael at

Staff Openings at Aldersgate Church
Church Administrator needed -
On behalf of Aldersgate’s Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC), we
share our church administrator, Amy O’Brien, was recently offered an
opportunity for a career change. Amy feels led by God to accept that
opportunity, and so her last day will be Friday, October 5, 2018. When
Amy shared the news with us she also shared what a blessing it has
been to work here and talked about many of the wonderful people and
how thankful she is to have had the opportunity to serve the
congregation. We deeply appreciate Amy’s service to our church for the
past 11 years; and as she leaves us, we send our prayers, gratitude, love,
and good wishes with her and her daughter, Erin.
Amy's move brings with it a need to fill that position, if you are
interested or know someone that may be interested in learning more

Kitchen Coordinator needed -
Elizabeth Peterson has served as our Kitchen Coordinator for the past
three years and her time as coordinator will end September 30,
2018. Her time, energy and dedication to the position is appreciated

Adult volunteers are needed to share their hearts and talents with the
children of Aldersgate. Have you ever wondered how you might make a
difference in the life of a child? Have you ever wondered what small
part you might be able to play in Children's Ministry? Helpers are

Save the Date! Children’s Nativity
All children and youth are invited to participate in our Children's
Nativity, "ON THE ROAD TO BETHLEHEM", which will be held on
Saturday, December 15th. There will be speaking roles for all ages along
with traditional carols and also a few new songs. Younger children are
encouraged to be in the Nativity, too, so if you have a 4 year old thru 2 nd

The Board of Trustees is seeking persons to assist with
several interior painting projects that will be beginning
soon at Aldersgate Church. Some experience is
preferred. If you might be able to assist for a few hours or

Opportunity to Serve Habitat for Humanity
Each month AUMC partners with Habitat for Humanity of Greater
Charlottesville to help build safe, decent, and affordable homes for
families in our community. Our next build day is Friday, October
12th. We would love to have you come and join our crew. We do a
variety of tasks and all skill levels are welcome. For more details and

full of fabric? We need you! The Living Nativity ministry needs more
costumes, and we are in need of folks to help make them. Patterns and
fabric will be provided, and they range from very easy to mildly

creative and wants to be part of this wonderful

TRUNK OR TREAT 2018!
Join us Saturday, October 20th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM (Rain Date: Oct.
21st) in the parking lots for Trunk or Treat 2018!! This is a FREE
community event that will feature: trunks, candy, food, live music, first
responders, train rides, games, bounce house, crafts and a petting zoo!!
We are expecting between 1,500 to 2,000 people this year and we will
need your help making this a successful event! It is a great opportunity
to serve and connect with our community! Please consider hosting a
trunk and donating the following items: hotdogs & buns, chips and
LOADS OF CANDY!! There are tons of volunteer opportunities so head
