THE RIGHT TO EQUALITY

The right to equality is an inherent right that all human beings have to be recognized as
equal before the law and to enjoy all the rights granted unconditionally.
Equality before the law
Before the law, the right to equality is a principle that recognizes that citizens share the
same characteristics without any distinction; they are seen in equal circumstances with
their due rights and obligations. In legal matters, all human beings are born free and equal
in dignity and rights. Equality before the law implies access to justice on the part of all
individuals. As well as non-discrimination due to ethnic origin, gender, preference and
sexual orientation, among many other situations. The right to equality is, then, a principle
that allows the fulfilment of duty, order and the common good of all individuals within a
society.
