INTRODUCTION

The problematic behavior shown by the pupils should be addressed promptly by the
teacher by designing an appropriate intervention program. The behavioral change
process needs to be done according to the prescribed measures such as choosing
target behavior, collecting and recording data and implementing interventions.

1.0 IDENTIFY AND SELECT TARGET BEHAVIOUR

Target behavior is the behavior that has been chosen to be given priority in the
behavioral change process.

Guidance on choosing target behavior:

i) Choose only one target behavior at a time, which is a behavior

-Endanger himself/herself and others

-Interfere with learning and other student

-Endanger the teacher and the students

-Not suitable for age

-Too often happen

-Lack of expertise in certain areas

-Cause other students stay away (Zirpoli & Mellow, 2001)

ii) Analyse target behaviour based on :

- Type of behaviour

- Frequency of behaviour

- The timeline

- Severity level (intensity)

- The total number of behaviours

iii) Consideration of the possible direction of change is whether the behaviour

increases or decreases

iv) Make sure the behaviour is observable.

v) Make sure the behaviour can be measured by the treatment. For example Pupil A
wakes up from the chair and walks in the classroom five times in half an hour.

vi) Specify target behaviour clearly and specifically whether verbally or in writing.

2.0 COLLECT AND RECORD DATA

Before conducting a behavior management program, the teacher should collect

information about the behavior to be changed. Collected information or data is
known as "baseline data".
The purpose of collecting data:

a) Find out the amount of the behaviour in a day.

b) Knowing the most frequent time of behaviour
