About this report:

This report provides details on distribution of ‘School kits’ among 34 students in 01 Govt Girls
primary schools of District Tharparkar. Karwan Development Foundation (KDF) Islamabad
provided funds and implemented by Rural Development Association -RDA procured and
distributed the kits among identified students who belonged to vulnerable households in
drought affected areas of Tharparkar, Sindh Pakistan.

The Needs Assessment:


In the month of July, 2018 while implementing a project school kits distribution at Village
Moharyo, funded by Karwan Development Foundation (KDF) Islamabad and implemented by
Rural Development Association -RDA team. While conducting the baseline, the field teams
identified that majority of students didn’t have school bags, basic stationary including pencils,
copies, school bags and uniforms. The teachers told that these students belong to those
families who do not have livelihoods resources other than rain fed agriculture and livestock,
which has suffered drastically due to consecutive dry years. The people are hardly meeting
their kitchen needs and they do not have money to spend on their children’s education. Govt
provides only text books.
The situation was communicated with Karwan development Foundation -KDF team. RDA and
KDF consider these necessary items as basic right of school children. These materials not only
motivate students towards schooling but also enhance their learning. Therefore, KDF with the
support from different donor’s provided generous support for distribution of 34 students’
school kits among the most deserving students in Oct 2018.

Distribution of Students Kits:


Rural Development Association -RDA with the technical support from Karwan development
Foundation -KDF team distributed student kits among 34 students of 01 schools of District
Tharparkar. The school kits consisted on school dresses, shoes, shocks, school bags, water
cooler. The purpose of the activity was to provide necessary educational materials to the poor
students of Govt. Primary Schools of District Tharparkar. With the support of teachers at
schools, RDA field team prepared lists of the deserving students. In 01 Govt. Girls Primary
School 34 students including 30 Girls and 04 boys were registered. In this project one most
important point is benefited 95% girl’s student 05% boy’s student.
RDA consulted school teachers to prepare list of materials to be included in students’ kits
according to the needs of students. RDA through its procurement procedures purchased and
packed the kits. Each school kit included:

 A uniform
 A pair of shoes
 01 School bag
 Water Cooler
 Shocks

On 15/10/2018 Rural Development Association –RDA team distributed the student kits
among 34 students of the Govt Girls primary school village Bajeer Colony Tehsil Mithi District
Tharparkar.

During the student kit distribution, Mr. Mohammad Essa Samejo appreciated the efforts done
on education by RDA with the generous support from Karwan Development Foundation (KDF)
Islamabad. RDA representatives Mr. Mohammad Siddique and school teachers handed over
the student kits to 30 Girls and 04 boys’ students in the GGS Bajeer Colony Mithi. At this
occasion Mr. Mohammad Siddique told that Karwan Development Foundation with the
support from different donors supports thousands of deserving students belonging to far
flung areas of Pakistan as their right of access to educational materials. Mr. Mohammad
Siddique, Executive Director of RDA acknowledged the contribution of (KDF) in promoting
education in remote areas of the district Tharparkar. A teacher Ms. Bhagwani bai told that
the educational materials provided to the students will enhance student’s interest and better
environment.
In this event Govt girl’s primary school Bajeer Colony Mithi staff and RDA team members Mr.
Khair Muhammad, Rajesh Kumar and several villagers were present at the distribution event.
