4. Anachnu Dor Mitzuyan

I used to think I was “the man”

My life was mine, that I had all the time.
I used to think that what I did
It was so good, it was so fine.
I used to sing, I used to dance
I thought I was the best you see.
And all the time the Lord was very patient,
Waiting just for me.
Bum, bum, bum, bum,

Chorus:
Oh-oo, Oh-oo, Oh-oo, Oh-oo
Anachnu dor mitzuyan. (4xs total)

Verse 2:
There was a day, I used to say,
That all I needed was time to play,
And in the night, with all my might
I’d do the things that were not right.
I didn’t care, I didn’t dare.
I couldn’t see, I wouldn’t see.
God was looking, He was loving,
God was longing—waiting just for me.
Bum, bum, bum, bum.

(chorus)

Bridge:
Don’t know how I did it, how I ever did it,
Live without Him.
Now I’ll never, never,
Never have to live without Him again.
Don’t know how I did it, how I ever did it,
Live without Him.
Now I’ll never, never,
Never have to live without, without Him,
Again, again.
Ay, ay, ay, ay, Yay, yay, yay, yay.
Bum, bum, bum, bum.
(Chorus)

5. Joshua’s Song

I was born of the tribe of Ephraim, my mother was a slave and my father the same.
They wanted a deliverer to lead them out of this land, so Deliverer became my name.
We made bricks when the sun was rising,
We mortared those bricks when the sun was high.
We still made bricks when the sun went over the horizon
And the only way out was to die.

This man Moses came out of the wilderness with the power of God on his side.
He told the Elders we were leaving and he went to tell the Pharaoh good bye.
He said, Let all the Israelites go, But as we expected the Pharaoh said, No!
So Moses spoke, the Nile turned red,
There were frogs in the oven and gnats in the bed,
Flies in the houses and the cattle all died,
And the people woke with boils all over their hide.

What the fire and the hail didn’t take the locust destroyed.
Pharaoh was beginning to get annoyed.
Then three whole days of darkness fell,
But the sun shone bright where the Israelites dwelled.

Then last night we slaughtered the lamb and we painted its blood on the front door jamb.
The angel passed over us, everyone, but Egypt mourned for her first born sons.
So we took her silver and we plundered her gold
And we wore our finest clothing at the Lord’s command.
We’re free as birds and happy as children to be heading at last for the Promised Land.

The moon is high and our hearts are true, people are singing and the animals too.
A pillar of fire burning beckons our way. We will sing of this night to the end of our days.
Nah na nah nah, nah na nah nah, nah na nah nah
Moses is wise and Moses is strong, and I’ve never known Moses to ever be wrong.
He learned his lessons at the Pharaoh’s side and the Great Eternal’s made him our guide.
I will follow this Moses wherever he goes, but I wonder if the others agree.
When you’ve been a slave from the very first day you were born,
It’s a little hard to handle being free.

And we’ve turned from the road to the Promised Land,

For it’s not where the pillar leads.
It won’t be long before the people notice that we’re headed for the
Banks of the Sea of Reeds,

Where the water is deep, and the water is wide,

And I wonder what will happen when we get to its side,
If Moses knows he’s not telling a soul, The Israelites are gonna be hard to control.
I will trust in the God of Moses, he led us this far out of Egypt’s land.
It may be that if we’ll only stand firm––,
We’ll see the power of the Lord’s great hand.

The moon is high and our hearts are true,

people are singing and the animals too.
A pillar of fire burning beckons our way.
We will sing of this night to the end of our days.
Nah na nah nah, nah na nah nah, nah na nah nah……..

11. Elijah and the Mountain

(From I Kings 19)

Just me, all alone, at the edge of the world.

Enemies behind me and my head’s in a whirl.
Desert is before me, I’m so tired that I can’t see.
I think I’ll just lie down here, let her capture me.

I can’t do it all, I just can’t go alone.

Even though their priests are gone, the faith in Baal lives on.
Please God, let me die here! Just a little prayer,
Crying out, God, all alone, please aren’t you there?
Why can’t I just die right here?

God said, Go to Elijah. Succor him with food.

Give him meat and drink that he may know I am good.
Strengthen Elijah. Bring him on his way.
Go my faithful messenger, help my servant this day
That he may hear what I will say.

Day turns into evening, desert growing cold.

Can it be that I’m the man that yesterday was bold?
Somehow it was easy, trusting in You then.
But now she’s coming after me, with all her men.
Jezebel will capture me, and what then?

Forty days I wandered, through the blistering sun,

Nourished by the God we call the Holy, Mighty One.
Angels fed me daily, led me on my way,
‘Till I reached Mt. Sinai at the ending of the day,
Thinking, here in peace tonight I’ll stay.

The rumbling was an earthquake, the rushing was the wind.

But neither was the voice of God when He will speak to men.
The rumbling slowly silenced. The rushing wind died down.
And after fire, a darkness settled all around. My face was to the ground.

I crept up to the entrance of the cave so silent now,

And raised my cloak to cover my face from chin to brow.
I stood there like a statue, I knew I didn’t dare
To look to see the whisper floating on the air.
The mighty God was there.

My son, you are so frightened, so lonely, so afraid.

Yet I am the mighty, holy One that called you and who made
The fire and the earthquake, wind below, and stars above.
And most of all I Am the One Who is and lives and gives men love.
The symbol of my Spirit is the dove.
So take heart now Elijah! Be strong, be bold, be brave.
And know you that in Israel seven thousand men I’ve saved
Who worship me as you do, and have not honored Baal,
And that my work and purpose will prevail.
My Word will never fail.

So take heart now my people! Be strong, be bold, be brave!

And know you that in time to come thousands more will be saved.
They’ll worship Me as you do, and will not honor Baal,
And that My work and purpose will prevail!
My Word will never fail!

12. Come and Dine

The Bride is prepared, she’s made herself ready.

Nothing’s been spared, it’s time for a wedding.
Then she appears in radiant white, a warrior beauty,
She has come to His side.

The Bridegroom Redeemer, desire of all nations,

His great heart is bursting with anticipation.
He’s faithful and true. A white horse He rides.
With justice He reigns. He has fire in His eyes.

The Father stands beaming, so full of life.

He lifts up His hands and He says with delight,

Chorus:
Come and dine, come and dine,
I am yours, you are mine.
The table’s been set with the bread and the wine.
Tell the earth it is time. Come, enjoy the wedding feast. (2x)
Of the Lamb.

And thousands of thousands, the heavenly throng,

All lift their voices and they join in the song:

They sing, Blessing and honor and glory and power alone
belong to the Lamb. (2x)
Repeat 2x with the chorus.

Come, enjoy the wedding feast!

Blessed are those who are called to the wedding Feast!

Come, enjoy the wedding feast of the Lamb.
