Hardware Installation
1. Plug the flat end (A plug) of the USB cable into a free USB port
on your PC.
2. Plug the square end (B plug) of the USB cable into the USB
upstream connector located on the back of the docking station.
3. At this point, Windows will automatically find the docking station
and start installing its driver. Windows will prompt you for the

software. See the next section for details on how to install the
software.

Driver Installation
Note: Do not connect the USB 1.1 Mini Docking Station
to your computer’s USB port until instructed to do so.
For Windows® 2000/XP/Server 2003
1. Please insert the CD driver bound with USB 1.1 Mini Docking
Station into your CD-ROM Drive.
2. At the Windows desktop click Start, then Run.
3. Type D:\DockStation\MCS7717\Setup.exe, then click OK.
(Change D: to match your CD-ROM drive letter)
4. Press “Install” button to install the drivers.
5. After a few second, the installer should display “Installation
Successfully Completed! No need to restart your Computer. If
the Device is currently connected, unplug and again plug it
in!”, click “Exit” to close the installer.
6. At the Windows desktop click Start, then Run.
7. Type D:\DockStation\PL2303\Setup.exe, then click OK.
(Change D: to match your CD-ROM drive letter)
8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

9. Now connect the USB 1.1 Mini Docking Station to your
computer’s USB port.
10. Windows should detect the new USB device, and automatically
install the drivers for the new hardware connected.
11. If “Digital Signature Not Found” message displayed. Click
“Yes” to continue.
12. When Windows desktop is displayed, the Driver installation is
complete.
13. Open “Device Manager” under System Properties.
14. Click on the + (plus sign) in front of the “Human Interface
Devices”, one “HID-compliant consumer control device” and
one “USB Human Interface Device” should be displayed.
15. Click on the + (plus sign) in front of the “Ports (COM&LPT)”,
one “Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port…”, one
“USB-to-Parallel Port Driver…” and one “USB-to-Serial Port
Driver…” should be displayed.
16. Click on the + (plug sign) in front of the “Sound, video and
game controllers”, one “USB Audio Device” should be
displayed.
17. Click the (+) sign next to “Universal Serial Bus controller”, one
“Generic USB Hub”, one “USB Composite Device” and one

“USB Compound Device” should be displayed.

For Windows® Vista


1. Please insert the CD driver bound with USB 1.1 Mini Docking
Station into your CD-ROM Drive.
2. At the Windows desktop click Start, then Run.
3. Type D:\DockStation\MCS7717\Vista32\Setup.exe, then click
OK.
(Change D: to match your CD-ROM drive letter)
4. Press “Install” button to install the drivers.
5. If the system prompts the user informing the drivers are not
signed, select the option Install this driver software anyway.
6. After a few second, the installer should display “Installation
Successfully Completed! No need to restart your Computer. If
the Device is currently connected, unplug and again plug it
in!”, click “Exit” to close the installer.
7. At the Windows desktop click Start, then Run.
8. Type D:\DockStation\PL2303\Vista\Setup.exe, then click OK.
(Change D: to match your CD-ROM drive letter)
9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
10. Now connect the USB 1.1 Mini Docking Station to your

computer’s USB port.
11. Windows should detect the new USB device, and automatically
install the drivers for the new hardware connected.
12. When Windows desktop is displayed, the Driver installation is
complete.
13. Open “Device Manager” under System Properties.
14. Click on the + (plus sign) in front of the “Human Interface
Devices”, one “HID-compliant consumer control device” and
one “USB Human Interface Device” should be displayed.
15. Click on the + (plus sign) in front of the “Ports (COM&LPT)”,

“USB-to-Parallel Port Driver…” and one “USB-to-Serial Port
Driver…” should be displayed.
16. Click on the + (plug sign) in front of the “Sound, video and
game controllers”, one “C-Media USB Headphone Set” should
be displayed.
17. Click the (+) sign next to “Universal Serial Bus controller”, one
“Generic USB Hub”, one “USB Composite Device” and one
“USB Compound Device” should be displayed.
