The definition of the word is not strongly altered by the addition of affixes.
Pre-Assessment:
- Asking the Host Teacher about the student’s awareness of Affixes and Root words
- Starting the Lesson with the students answering several questions that I present them with.

Lesson Plan Details:

Introduce the topic :
Questions ; “What are suffixes , prefixes , and root words?” , “Do you know the basic affixes ?” “How do they affect the words meaning
after they are added”

Assessment results will show if students know and can apply the words to sentences. Also, if students can determine the new meaning
of the root word.
This will show the students, my host teacher, and I where they need improvement and who needs it the most.

Evaluation Criteria:
I will be able to determine if students retained any information by the results that Plicker provides.
Next Step: What will be the most logical next step for students after this lesson?

Specifically, what foundation did this lesson build or provide that will be utilized in some way in the following lessons?
The most logical step would be to continue to advance the students ability in understanding root words. By them understanding more
advanced root words it will increase their knowledge over all.
Extension:
Rotate in the groups two more times so that it will allow for adequate practice.
NOTE: Attach any and ALL Relevant handouts, activities, templates, PPT slides, etc. that are referenced and utilized in this
lesson.
