Abstract

During this field attachment, various activities in three departments namely Utilities,
Quality Control and Quality Assurance were undertaken.

At Utilities (Engineering), activities involving plant systems; Reverse Osmosis plant and
equipment such as Air Handling Units, Chillers, fire-tube boiler, cooling towers, hot water
tanks, air compressors and heat exchangers were observed in operation for impacting
production indirectly.

Quality control department saw various analytical methods and instrumentation such as
titrations, liquid chromatography, Ultra Violet Spectrophotometry and Dissolution were
used to access the quality of raw materials, conduct in process checks and recognition of
quality final products in the light of British and U.S. pharmacopoeia and W.H.O standards.

Quality Assurance department dealt with all aspects of documentation from issuing of
Batch Manufacturing Record (B.M.R) to inspection and release of final products from ware
house. They also ensured Good Manufacturing Practices in every stage of production in
addition to calibration of all balances and moisture analyzer.

My sincere gratitude goes to Almighty for giving me life and sustenance in His abundant
love and mercies, without which this industrial attachment would not have been possible.

I also thank my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donkoh and my siblings for their concern and
financial support towards the realization of this industrial attachment.

I am also grateful to the Management and Staff of Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research
Centre, first and foremost for accepting me to be a part of them for my period of
attachment. Furthermore, I’m forever delighted for their unfailing support, constructive
criticisms, keen understanding and fastidiously taking me through various activities
performed in the Utilities (engineering), Quality Control and Quality Assurance
departments of their Pharmaceutical industry. In fact, the success of this industrial
attachment is as a result of their rich experience, expertise and high sense of academic
intellectuality.
