USER'S INFORMATION:

AOTEK X-RAY SYSTEMS

MOOEL VWF-VH TUBESTANo, ANO MOOEL VWF-V TUBESTANO are

intended to be installed with x-ray tubes and collimators

which are certifed to comply with BRH Standard 21 CFR Sub

chapter J.

1, These tubestands are compatible withcertified Machlett

x-ray tubes UP to and includng Dx-60 and Collimaster C

Collimators or equal.

Vertical and Horizontal 5.1.0. Monitors are provided to

operate wlth PBL collimators when required by the

medical application.

3. The x-ray tube is platform mounted and Is

counterbalanced in the vertical direction. Mechanical

lecks are provided te held the the carriage at a

selected position.

4. Model VWF-VH previdas 48 u of longitudinal travel and

59" of vertical travel. The tube will come down to 15"

aboye the floor. There is no cross travel provided.

5. Model VWF-V provides 59" of vertical travel for a fixed

horisontal 5.1.0. installation such as for Chest work.

There is no cross travel er longitudinal travel.

6. These tubestands are floor to wall mounted so that

fhere is no obstruction on the floor. The focal spot

ot the x-ray tube is only 17 in~hes from the wall,

which gives this unit the name of VERITHIN.

· .
2

7. T~e platform tube mount has handles for the operator to

use to position the tube.

8. An angle finder shows the angle of the x-ray beam with

respect to the vertical and horizontal axes, when the

tube is rotated to do table or wall buckw work.

9. S.I.D. marker tapes are provided to indicate the

distance from the focalspot to the image receptor in

the horizontal and vertical directions.

TO MAKE AN EXPOSURE:

1. Turn on the x-ray control to provide power to the

collimator lampo

~. Select the correct S.I.D. distance to the table or wall

bucky. Move the tube and set the locks (13 & 14) to

hold the carriage in this position. (usually 4~" or 72")

3. Rotate the tube (1) to point the x-ray beam toward

the bucky to be used. Use the angle finder(16) to set

the beam to the correct angle. ~ighten the rotation

lock.(15)

4. Select the exposure technique and the x-ray field size

according to the instructions of the x-ray control and

the collimator.

5. Position the bucky according to the patient examination

to be made, using the collimator light as a guide to

align the x-ray beam.

6. NOTE: Operation of the Model VWF-V is the same as the

Model VWF-VH except that it doesn't have longitudinal

travel, and must be used at one fixed horizontal

distance.

AS~EMBLER·S INSTRUCTONS:

I
ADTEK MODEL VWF-VH & VWF-V TUBESTANDS:
l.Model VWF-VH tubestand is compatible with a

certified Machlett x-ra~ tube and PBL collimator for

• general purpose radiograph~ when' used with a buckW

table or wall buck~. The horizontal and vertical S.I.D.

monitors Cswitches) tell the collimator logic (part of

the collimator) that the tube is properlw positioned.

Model VWF-VH is also compatible with a non-PBL

certified collimator when used at a tixed horizontal

S.I.D. and with one body part such as CHEST or SPINE.

When usedwith this approv~d non-PBL application,the

exposure circuit must be lnterlocked to prevent

exposures at other than the specitied tixed distance,

ie, a mechanical or electrical interlock must prevent

exposures in other positions ot ~he tubestand.

4. A second 5.1.0. such as 76" maw be used in the case of

a 14x36 buckw used tor spinework at 40" into a l7"x17"

cassette Cinterlocked at 40") and a 14"x36" cassette

inserted into the bucky to operate a cassette-present

c. With the collimator pointed horizontally toward the

wall bucky, set the tubestand at 40" S.I.D. The

collimator light centerline should strike the

centerline of the bucky.

When the tube is moved vertically, the lightfield

should
. ·1
stay centered with the bucky.

d. When the horizontal S.I.D. is inc~eased tu 72", the

collimator centerline should stay in the center of the

bucky. (VWF-VH only)

6. lf a non-PBL collimator is installed because of an

allowa&le fixed distance option, check to be sure that

the eKPosure interlock prevents unauthorized exposures.

16

MA r'NTENANCE :
Maintnance should be performed at least annually or when

indicated by a malfunction. The tests to be perfermed and

the adJustments to be made are covered under ADJUSTMENTS AND

TESTS. Also check all bolts and screws for tightness. Check
the condition of the counterweight cables by running a cloth

ayer the cable to check fer sharp ends which indicate cable

failure. In case of positive indications, change the cable.

MODEL 3250 H.V. Generator complies
with H.E.W. 21CFR Subchapter J.
TIMER 1/120-6 second, 23 steps,
solid state contactor.
MA DIAL Displays focal spot and
MA values selected, normally 50S,
100S, 100L, 200L, 300L. Actual
MA indicated on 0-300MA D.C. 4~"
Meter.
KVP' 40-125KVP indicated on 4~"
Meter, selected by major and minor
KVP switches in steps of approxi
mately 1 KVP.
X-RAY EXPOSURE and Rotor-Filament
switches are rocker type, and are
located in the center of the Control
for easy access. Rotor lead sensing
protects against open rotor leads.

FILAMEN: VOLTAGE is provided by a stabilizer and two filament

transformers. The filaments are not lighted on standby, preventing
deterioration if the Control is left energized over long periods.
H.V. GENERATORS single phase, 60Hz, fullwave, silicon solid state
rectifiers, federal H.V. sockets, 6" x 6" junction box for easy
connection of I.C. cable or flex conduit.
BUCKY SELECTOR Bucky 1, 2, OFF.
