1. Flashcards: Students will go over famous Abstract artist and learn a brief fact on each
artist. Students will also go over famous art works from each artist and understand the
methods the artist used in order to create it.
2. Quiz: Students will take a test to match each of the artist with their artworks. Students
will match accordingly, which will show their understanding of the importance of knowing
these artist’s styles.
3. Venn Diagram: Students will be able to create a Venn Diagram to compare Abstract Art
and Renaissance Art. By comparing the difference and similarities, students will be able
to infer the different evolutions in art.
4. Quiz 2: Students will take a quiz on the different types of Abstract Art and mediums. By
doing so, students will show understanding of the ways Abstract Art can be created and
what mediums can be included to create it.
5. Project 1: Students will create art by using different types of mediums that they are not
use to. This allows students to be more open to how they can create Abstract Art, and
for future projects as well.
6. Project 2: Students will create an final art project and present their own representation of
Abstract Art by using different mediums and inspiration from a famous Abstract artist.
Students will also be able to present their work to the class and explain their process in
creating it.
Abstract Art Project

Now that you have learned about the different types of Abstract Art, mediums, methods, and
artist. It’s time for you to create your very own Abstract Art!

Requirement:
1. Your project must have at least 4 or more different mediums used.
2. Be sure to make it colorful! A part of trying out mediums is using colors as well.
3. You must use at least four or more elements/ principles of art, refer back to your notes
for the list of elements and principles of art.
4. Be creative with everything you use, there’s no mistakes in art. If you dislike it, you can
always do it again
5. Don’t love your art too much!! No “my precious” feelings, be open to drawing/painting
over it.
6. Use your time wisely! Most of your work will be done in class so there should be no rush
to finish, but you are free to take it home to work on it more if you so like.
7. Be prepared to present your art once you are done. I recommend writing an outline of
what you will say:
a. Talk about the mediums and the elements/principles of art you used.
b. Talk about what inspired you to create that artwork.
c. Lastly, talk about the methods you used to create your art. Did you run into
problems along the way?
8. Always remember to sign the back of your art!
9. Be ready to critique other artworks. There is always room for improvement!
