Implementing Learning

Presents material which is accurate, meaningful and accessible to support student engagement and learning

Implements learning centres/ student-centred work which engages learners & secures learning

Instructions are clear & concise

Comments:

Maryam’s delivery is clear and concise. Particularly today in which the children knew what they
were learning and how to achieve the lesson objective. She gages prior learning or knowledge
about the lesson objective at the start of the lesson and revisits this at the end. The lesson is child
centered and encourages peer support as the children worked well in pars. The children have an
opportunity to learn new techniques and then apply them during independent work.

Assessment

Designs & implements simple diagnostic assessment (possibly through questions or a classroom task)

Comments:

Working in the text book allowed for some good assessment at the end of the lesson. Miss
Maryam also provided each child with an individual self-assessment sheet which was well received
by the children. This also identified a few children that were not feeling confident about the lesson
objective. Miss Maryam told these boys that she would work more on this objective with them on
Wednesday. Throughout the lesson Maryam used good questioning to engage the children, check
understanding and form her assessments.

Reflection on Practice

Asks a range of questions to guide reflections on her classroom practice

Comments:

How will you work on your time management to ensure all aspects of the lesson are covered?

Now that you have identified them, begin to think about how to extend or push those more able
boys?
