Late adolescence is a period in which one seeks for identity. The desire for being accepted by
friends of the same age and the beginning of being attracted by the opposite gender make teenagers
maintain their appearance. All of those causes influence teenagers’ level of consumption, including the
selection of food and frequency of food intake. Teenagers in general have tight activities, rendering them
neglecting breakfast or lunch or making them only eat once in a day. This nutritional issue occurs on
teenagers in their late adolescence, including their Body Mass Index (IMT) being under the normal limit.
The objective of this research is to figure out the correlation between the level of consumption, physical
activity, and allowance and the nutritional status of the Students of Health Polytechnic of Banjarmasin.
The research method was analytical observation using Cross Sectional design. The population of
the research were all of the Students of Health Polytechnic of Banjarmasin, with the samples of 94
students, sampled using proportional random sampling technique. The data was analyzed using
Spearman’s Rank Correlation Test with confidence level of 95% (α = 0.05).
The research results show that 61.7% of the respondents were under the status of normal
nutrition, 58.5% of the respondents had good level of consumption, 50% of the respondents had moderate
physical activity, and 57.4% of the students had allowance < average. There was a correlation between the
level of consumption and the students’ nutritional status. There was a correlation between physical
activity and the Students’ nutrition. There was no correlation between allowance and nutritional status.
This will help students to selectively choose the food that is going to be consumed, to choose
appropriate physical activities without overdoing themselves, and to have proper allowance usage.
