VIBARTION ANALYSIS OF

BHS GEAR BOX

USING VT-60

1|Page
OBSERVATIONS NOTED:

Trends of Gearbox were noted using VT-60. Observation is mentioned below.

Measurement was taken at close position of accelerometer installed. The overall vibration
level was noted to be 2.82 mm/sec RMS against the alert alarm at 7.0 mm/sec. Please
note that, as the amplitude of RMS value is low it is therefore for exact calculation thru VT-
60 we have noted peak values also and which came to be 7.316 mm/sec peak.

The major component of this vibration was noted to be less than 05 KHz. Spectrum of both
velocity and acceleration vibration was taken at 0 – 05 and 0 – 10 KHz.

Following are the forcing frequencies calculated w.r.t. gear box operating speed and
specifications.

FORCING FREQUENCIES:

FINDINGS

The spectrum shows 04 major peaks as mentioned above. Since it is acceleration

spectrum therefore low frequency peaks are suppressed. Its velocity spectrum is attached
with this report as attachment # 01.

RECOMMENDATION:

From analysis carried out above, following is recommended:

a. Machine to run under observation since the overall vibration level is not very high &
below Alert limits.
b. We would like to obtain real time data at the occasion of high noise and increased
vibrations as well, to further study above findings. It is therefore, we request
Operations to inform Machinery when subject fault re-appears.
