Professional Development Plan

(What do YOU need to work on in order to grow professionally?)
1- Eye Contact strategy.

1. Choose and describe an aspect from a teaching competency that you need to work on (Goal)
MST is using the eye contact strategy to let the students well behave and to avoid noises. I would
like to focus on using this strategy which I found it useful to control the students.

2. Describe what you will do to help achieve your goal (Strategies Used)
I will use the eye contact to control on the students when they are misbehaving so they will know
that they did something wrong.

3. Describe how you can tell if you’re achieving your goal (Evidence)
By describing what happened and what went well and what need to be developed next time in
the reflection.

Introduction (warmer activity + teacher introduction/demonstration of small group activities)

In the circle time, I will do the morning routine by reading the holy Quran and Alduaa. Then,

change the date and the day and take attendance by choosing a helper hand to do that. After

that, I will remind the students about the classroom rules which are; Lips are zipped, Legs

are crossed, Eras are listening, hands are still, and eyes are watching. After that, I will apply

a song about letter “Pp” to engage the students and ask them to repeat the words that start

with letter “Pp” from the song. Then, I will hang the learning objectives of the lesson on the

board and read them with the students. I will ask them to come to the board to write and

pronounce the letter “P’ before they line up and move to their groups (Red, Green, Yellow),
Whole

and I will explain for each group the activities individually.

they will use the glue to stick the feathers on the parrot and writ the letter “Pp”.

them to help each other during the activities. The time is not enough to switch over the

me words that start with the letter “P” and write it on the air.

Walk around the students while they are working, check their work and ask them to point at the words
that starts with letter “Pp” in the flash cards.
Lesson plan 1 + Reflection: (Sound “Pp”)

What went well:

The students were well behaved and engorged with the lesson and participating.

They enjoyed most doing the craft activity “Drawing and designing parrot”. Besides,

Abdulrahman usually quiet and not participating. However, for the craft activity, he

was excited, and he show his drawing to Ms. Khitam which made me feel proud and

MST was happy for that also. Some of the students like Sarah knew already some

words such as; Pizza, and Penguin which is very good.

Moreover, I used the eye contact two times for Khalied because he was talking to

Mohammed and he stopped talking for the second time. In general, it seems to me

that they understood the sound and it was easy for them to write it also. According

to Howard Gardner, he believes that: “Children may study better with music, show

sensitivity to rhythm and sound and they love music “(McLeod, Simply Psychology, 2012).

So, using the songs can teach the students better, and they enjoy, have fun and learn

faster through the song that what I realized by using songs in teaching.

Even better if:

I think I will let them trace on the letter or use the playdough to make the letter which

will be interest and easier for them.
