Currently abortion is legal, in 2013, 664,435 abortions were performed.

This day in age it is

estimated that 3,000 are performed a day. Abortion is when a fetus or embryo is surgically

removed for a woman's body because of religious or ethical reasoning. Even though Abortion is

legal, there are way to many babies being killed in US. except for in a medical emergency

abortion should be illegal.

Abortion has been legal since 1967 when Roe v Wade supreme court decision was

passed. In the early stages abortion was legal and was very common. Connecticut passed in

1821 was their first anti-abortion law. Certain states were left to decide if it was legal or not until

Roe v Wade in 1967, Estimates suggest there have been between 50 million and 60 million

abortions since the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade in 1973 (Khol).

There are several reasons why abortion should be illegal. The first season is religion of

certain clients. For religious reason abortion is considered a valuable life and was made by god.

Most clients have a religious past. You don't have to be religious to be pro-life, but most people

who are pro-life are apart of a religious system. “There is so much robust evidence that we can

draw on. As Catholics(or any other religion), we may (rightly) be driven by our understanding of

the sanctity of life and the intrinsic worth of all human beings, formed in the image of God”

(Catholic Herald). As seen in the bible, “Thou shalt not kill” meaning that women are performing

a sin by murdering their unborn children, fetus are humans too.

Second reasoning that abortion should be illegal is health concerns that will go through

during the procedure and after the procedure.Illegal abortions result in the death of forty-seven

thousand women every year (abortion;Gale). During the 1800’s, medical procedure like this

were very risky, the hospitals were unknown. Having these procedures were as risky as surgery

back then. Certain women who have done self induced procedures or went to untrained

surgeons have died or suffered from medical problems(Tietze). Many of women have been

injured by illegal along with legal abortions.

Last reasoning is emotional distress of the patients. For certain women abortion can be

a difficult and stressful decision, most women have that thought in their mine of how it would be

to have a child. Grief, guilt, and remorse of regret is what goes through a woman's mind. women

may feel greater guilt and emotional distress because of religious influences that create stigma

around abortion(MacGill). After an planned terminated pregnancy with abortion, there can still

be emotional distress and guilt. “The American Psychological Association Task Force on Mental

Health and Abortion found in 2008 that some women are at a higher risk of depression.” The

risk factors of poverty, alcohol and drugs use, and violence and emotional problem ( MacGill).

Opposing viewpoint abortion should stay legal and it would be pro-choice. Pro-choice

believes that it’s woman's body and she should do whatever she pleases. There are many

choices of abortion and many reasons why it should happen. “Some activists contend that no

restrictions should be placed on abortions, while many who identify as pro-choice support laws

that require a waiting period before the procedure can be performed or laws requiring minors to

obtain permission from their parents.”( Abortion opposing)

This concludes that abortion should be illegal in the US. It is not passable that numerous

babies have to die everyday. Abortion destroys the lives of helpless, innocent children and

is legal in many countries. People these days take advantage of abortion and chose to

abuse it, besides the people who use it for religious and ethical reasoning. My three

reasoning of being religious, emotional distress, and health issues should make women

think twice about aborting their unborn child.
