NARRATIVE REPORT

Pre-Service Teachers Congress

Theme: “Becoming a 21st Century Leader” (March 15-16, 2018)

Venue: Organic Agriculture Training Center

A pre-planning was done in having Student Teachers Congress which is one of the requirements
for graduating students in the College of Education. As agreed, we invited great, versatile speakers from
Manila and from the regional office.

We were blessed to have with us Dr. Lita A. Bolivia and Dr. Lourdes B. Bago who initiated and
invited people who were amazing because of the different topics shared to the students of Caraga State
University and to the faculty and staff as well.

A teacher can become productive by using creative strategy on hoe to handle the class evry well.
Sir Joseph “Otep” Titar was the most appreciated by the participants of all the speakers since he said
everything must be given meaningful, passionate and concern to the learners especially when the teacher
can change the heart of students and they could be successful in the future with God’s grace.

Second speaker Dr. Beatriz Gonzales Torno, Regional Director discussed on the criteria or
standards of quality teachers, academic achievement, training experience, special training, familiarity
with respect to community culture, interview, professional experience, planning, instructional skills,
relationship with others.

Miss Jenny L. Motibo, the Officer In-charge of the Department of Education talked on
“Managing Change”. Professional development using new technologies to cope up students needs.

Sir Joseph Titar discussed, “Why do we teach?”. Unleashing the real purpose of the students who
want to teach, why he/she choose the field of education. He emphasized that teaching is not learning of
thr facts but training of the minds of our learners. A mentor must be a facilitator, parent, friend, listener,
adviser, provider to make people happy.

The last speaker, Sir Eric Habijan gave important keynotes on teaching that will really encourage
the soon future teachers to become more responsible and be able to perform teaching as a profession with
a balance. He shared some highlights in his topics that were really caught the attention of all the students
that everyone must be knowledgeable enough to know everything in order to cater the needs and as
facilitator to the learners. And for me, a classroom manager must be committed, sincere, refined, well
educated individuals.

As observed and the result of my interview from the students, they liked and appreciated very
much all the speakers but the outstanding one is Dr. Joseph Titar who really wants us to have ascending
performance and for eternal life with the Lord.
Not bragging the Student Teachers Congress was indeed successful because of the collaborative
efforts of faculty, staff, students and especially to Dr. Lita A. Bolivia and Dr. Lourdes B. Bago the
administrators who gave us a chance to provide financial support for the speakers.

Congratulations College of Education for a job well done!
