hi goodmorning how are you today I want to talk about makeup, I always had ideas

about makeup and talking about it but what better to do when talk about makeup than
putting makeup on that's what I'm gonna do I started putting on makeup when I was
probably I'm gonna say I was probably 12 or 13 my ever first makeup I bought was
from Claire's I'd never had a mom figure to teach me makeup or anyone on the
Internet it wasn't like today guys that you can just go online and look up makeup
tutorials we didn't have that when I was growing up we just had our inspiration
from our heads and I never really liked makeup you could say I was a tomboy or
whatever when I was growing up that's basically what Kristen was andso the first
naked I ever got was when I went to Claire's which is kind of like alittle kid
jewelry store if you guys don't know about that I bought a bunchof eyeshadows and
things like that and I never wore them I was always tooself-conscious when I was a
little too her makeup because no one else wasreally doing it but I thought it was
cool then I really started wearingmakeup or experimenting with makeup when I was in
high school I was aquote-unquote goth emo kid scene whatever you want to call it a
a lot ofdark eyeshadows a lot of bright colors like pinks and oranges and stuff I
hada best friend named Mary and she would always tell me Kristen I thinkyou're
wearing a little bit too much makeup and I would say nonsense you knoweven though
it looked like I was a raccoon I was like nonsense this is theway I want to express
myself but yeah I probably wore a little bit too much ofthe dark eyeshadow I
perfected my perfect wing when I was a senior in highschool and that's when I
really started to get into those YouTube tutorials andfind out how to do some of
this stuff that I just didn't know how to do Ican't do this while talking I've
never had a lot of stigma around wearingmakeup I always thought it was about self-
expression and making yourself feelgood and not about pleasing others but when I
was in college I went to this artum class I was in this art class this beginner
drawing course Iwas sitting outside the class one day it was early about an hour
and there was aclassmate of mine who was early it was really hot out that day she
comes up tome she offers me a sandwich and I said no I'm fine and then she said
would youlike a napkin cuz I was really sweaty I was going like this she's like
would youlike a napkin and I was like no I don't want to wipe off my makeup you
knownormal thing to say if you have makeup on you don't wipe it off with a napkin
ifyou're hot and then she goes why are you wearing makeup and I was like cuz I
Iwant to and she's like you're trying to please people with makeupI don't like
makeup because you're just trying to please men and you're justtrying to please
society and she went on and on and on about this and I was justlike what are you
talking about through the rest of my art class the rest ofsemester she would always
look at me and bully me because I wore makeupbecause I was pleasing other people
and it was ridiculousmakeup is not about pleasing other people it's about pleasing
yourselfmaking yourself feel good about just the way you present yourself I've
never seenmakeup as something - oh I'm gonna put this on because my boyfriend likes
it orI'm gonna put this on because I'm gonna look really good I don't know I'm
gonnaplease my professors or I'm gonna please people yes in our society people who
dowear makeup usually are more well accepted but I love my no makeup daysI love
days where I can just walk around and feel completely beautiful beingmyself and not
wearing makeup I used to be really insecure about my acne andthat's why I wore
makeup because it made me feel better about my skin and Iwasn't trying to cover up
my pimples because other people would see mypimples I was covering up my pimples
because I don't like them and I wouldrather look in the mirror and not see my
pimple like I have a pimple here I havea ton of pimples here I just dont want to
see them anymore so they go away anotherkind of thing I want to talk about makeup
is buying makeup when I firststarted watching YouTube videos I was obsessed with
like the beauty communityand the book community those are the two communities that
I was just like this isit man this is my community and I learned a lot about makeup
and now thebeauty community is morphed into this thing it's like an industry
there's somany new products and there's so many newthings out there in the market
today and there's a new thing every week andeverything is so pretty and you're like
oh great I need to get that I need toget that so when I started watching beauty
videos I bought a lot of makeup Ibought so much makeup I bought this palette it's a
vice palette by urbandecay I bought that because there's a piece of thing on it I
bought thatbecause oh my god all my favorite beauty gurus were ravingabout it and
then a year later no one's touching it that's makeup I also boughtthe Naked 3
palette because other people bought it and I said it was great Inever touched this
thing I it's really pretty but it's like when am I evergoing to use it so yeah I
would buy a ton a ton of makeup and I would feelgood about myself because I bought
some and that's when I was really depressed Iwould buy a bunch of things and one of
the things I would buy it would be Bath& Body Works candles and lotions and
everything because I wanted to smellgood and makeup I would just buy a ton of
makeup and you really don't need alot of this makeup I recently discovered eyebrows
like maybe this past semester Inever got the hype I was like why are we drawing on
our eyebrows you don't knowwhy there's a hype until you do it and then you're like
I have eyebrows now andit's amazing but ya know and I don't do things correctly I'm
not a makeup artistno-one's a makeup artist let's you go to school for it or it's
like your job oryou know pointing the obvious out Kristen I do makeupbecause it
makes me feel good it's part of my self-care routine I feel goodabout the way I
look if I look at myself and go yeah like thatI feel better somedays I don't want
to put makeup on somedays I do even if I'mhome do you ever get those days where
like you put makeup on when you're at homewhere no one in real life sees you and
you're like this is good makeup I can'tbelieve I did this beautiful makeup or your
wings like amazing and you don'tleave the house and no one sees you and you're like
why did I do this because Idid for myself because I feel good but sometimes you
want that recognition ohyour wing is so pretty or your makeup is so pretty today
yeah I made my eyebrowthey're pretty squared these are not good eyebrow they're
just not okay onelast thing of Kristen's beauty routine beforewe go I like mascara
I used to be really self-conscious about leaving thehouse without mascara for some
reason I was in high school when I was in high schoolI thought that I had to wear
mascara to be pretty because I don't have anylashes and some people have like ton
of lashes and then there's me now we don'tfeel that way I just like mascara I'm not
self-conscious about it I just likeit a lot let me know down below in the
description about makeup let me know howyou feel when you wear makeup have you ever
experienced stigma around wearingmakeup as anyone told you oh you look pretty
without makeup so why are youwearing makeup or have you ever been told that you're
doing it for the wrongreasons I would love to know because I've been told I don't
need to wearmakeup because I'm pretty on the inside or I'm pretty without it and
I'm likewell yeah I know that I like it and why are you here telling me that I
don't Ican't wear something because I'm pretty without it yeah so let me know if
youever experience that do you ever get one side like really perfect and then
theother side it's like no we're not gonna do that like it's like not
cooperatingand you're like why I you know I've done so much for you in my life make
yourbeautiful and stuff and you helped me see so why can't you match the
otherstupid side just doesn't want to do it okay that's good enough for todayoh
