Affective objectives:
to create a pleasant atmosphere in order to offer the background for easy conversation
between teacher and students

ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:
- if teacher thinks it is necessary, she will offer the students guidance in solving certain exercises;
- Some students might need further help and extra indications in solving the tasks and they may
also need some of these indications to be given in Romanian;
- Some students might feel nervous and reluctant to participate in the activity, so they may need
assistance.

PROCEDURE
ACTIVITY 1 – CONVERSATION
Objective: To increase students’ attention
Warm-up
Time: 5’
Procedure: Teacher attends the pupils and ensures a friendly atmosphere so that the students
might feel encouraged to fully participate in the class. In order to make sure the students pay
attention and focus on the lesson, the teacher starts a short conversation asking them if they have
done their homework, asks what their homework was about and gathers the papers in order to be
checked later. Afterwards the teacher introduces the topic of the lesson.
ACTIVITY 2 – Lead-in
Procedure:
T asks the pupils to open their books. T reads the title of the unit and has the pupils repeat after
her. She reads the instructions and goes through the pictures of the dialogue. The T asks the Ss to
listen to the dialogue and say which picture the sentence was taken from. Afterwards she plays
the recording.
ACTIVITY 4 – Comprehension
Objective: - to comprehend
Interaction: T-Ss
Skills: reading
Teaching techniques: explanation, dialogue
Time: 5’
Procedure:
Reads the instructions for exercise 2 and explains the task. Asks the pupils to look at the example
and then complete the task in their notebooks. The Ss do the task individually then check it with
their teacher and classmates.
ACTIVITY 5 – Extension
Objective: - to learn the pronunciation
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Skills: speaking and reading
Teaching techniques: explanation, repetition
Time: 10’
Procedure:
The T plays the recording again with pauses for the pupils to listen and repeat chorally. Checks
the pupils’ pronunciation and intonation.
ACTIVITY 6 – Practice
Objective: - to help the students comprehend
Interaction: T-Ss
Skills: listening, speaking
Teaching techniques: explanation, dialogue
Time: 5’
Procedure:
Reads the instructions to exercise 4 and explains the task. Elicits the objects shown in the
pictures. Asks two pupils to read the example. In pairs, the Ss ask and answer as in the example
ACTIVITY 7 – Further practice - game
Objectives: to help the students understand the new information
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss - T
Skills: speaking, writing
Teaching techniques: dialogue, explanation (explaining in Romanian may be necessary)
Time: 10’
Procedure:
Refers the pupils to the picture and explains how the game works. Explains that they have to
look at the picture and spot the differences. Point out that the use of this/that as opposed to
these/those will be determined by the quantity of the the objects present. Asks one pupilto read
the example. Dives the class into 4 teams then asks individual students to spot the difference and
tell the class. For every correct answer, the team gets a point.
Teacher says goodbye to the students and thanks them for their attention.
