4A’s Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English Grade 12

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. define the main characters of the story entitled “A Doll’s House”;
b. value the role of women in society;
c. connect themselves to the characters; and
d. participate actively in class discussion.

III. Procedure

A. Abstract
The teacher will ask the students to close their eyes, and then imagined that they are a
doll. A doll that could not speak and move and her actions will be depending on someone.

B. Activities
The class will be divided into four. Each group will arrange the jumbled letters into a
word. The fastest group will be the winner.

C. Analysis
The teacher will ask the students idea why the story entitled “A Doll’s House”.
The teacher will introduce the author.
The teacher will introduce the major characters.
The teacher will ask questions about the story.
The teacher will ask the students about adjective.

D. Application
The teacher asks the students to arrange the summary key points in order.

IV. Assessment
The teacher asks the students to answer the following questions.
The teacher asks the students to create a sentence, they will describe their mother and
father, and write in a 1 whole sheet of paper, the sentence must have adjective.
V. Assignment
Read the story entitled “The Five Boons of Life” by Mark Twain.

Issues to consider in Evaluating Materials
When evaluating instructional materials, whether they are texts, videos, software, or
websites, they are variety of issues to consider. The materials you use in teaching your classes
need to be accurate, well written, easy to use, and appropriate for the learners who will be using
the materials. When deciding which materials to incorporate into instruction, make careful
consideration of each of the following issues:
1. Age-level
Determine whether the material is written at a level that is appropriate for learners who
will be using the materials.
2. Pedagogy
When evaluating instructional materials you need to examine them using your knowledge
of the art, science, and profession of teaching. Examine the materials from the perspective of a
teacher.
 Make sure that the material is accurate and up-to-date.
 Check the readability, grammar, and spelling accuracy of the instructional materials.
 Examine the instructional usability of the materials.
 Examine all of the materials provided just as you would examine all instructional
materials.
3. Ease of Use
This usually applies to multimedia materials such as videos, software, and websites.
Software and websites can be especially problematic.
4. Tie to Curriculum
Instructional materials are developed by a variety of sources and they are of varying
quality. The biggest problem is that a lot of materials being developed do not relate directly to
the curriculum that teachers are required to teach.
5. Learning Strategies Emphasized
Examine the instructional materials from the students’ point of view. Determine if the
material will involve and interest your students.

Types of Materials Evaluation

1. External Evaluation
- Aims to examine the organization of materials as stated explicitly by the author of the
publisher. These types of evaluation analyses what the book tells about itself by looking at teh
blurb, introduction and table of contents.
2. Internal Evaluation
- Focuses on the internal accountability of the materials. It investigates the value of the
materials in relation to its objectives, principles, lesson design and assessment procedure.
3. Overall Evaluation
- It analyses the materials in relation to its Usability, Generalizability, Adaptability and
Flexibility.
