OnePlus 6T

It only seems like yesterday when we wrote about

the OnePlus 6 and here comes the 6T! Given how
fast technology moves, we don’t really blame
smartphone manufacturers for bringing out a new
model every few months. Some things do remain
and the 6T uses the same processor as the 6 before e
it i.e Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 but now the base
variant will start from 6GB RAM with 128GB storage e
with the other two being 6+256 and 8+256. It has a
dual-SIM VoLTE tray but there is no option of extra
expansion. Out of the box, it is preloaded with
Android Pie with a re-designed OxygenOS
interface. A 6.41” (1080x2340p) Optic AMOLED
display with 19:5:9 aspect ratio and thinner bezels
are present protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. A
waterdrop notch is used at the front which houses
the 16MP selfie camera. On the rear lies a vertically
aligned dual camera setup consisting of a 16MP
primary sensor and a 20MP secondary sensor with
flash. Both have an aperture of f/1.7. Face unlock,
Portrait mode, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS),
Quick Capture, Panorama and Slow motion return
better than ever while 4K Video recording is
possible at 60FPS. There has been a special focus
on improving low light photography. You might
have noticed the lack of physical scanner anywhere
which is due to embracing the in-screen fingerprint
scanner, a first for the company. A larger 3700mAh
capacity battery should ensure longer lasting
standby but the trade-of was no more 3.5mm
headphone jack and instead a Type-C dongle has
been bundled for connecting them. This also has
the efect of increasing the width to 8.2mm and the
weight at 185g.

TCL’s 65X4 has beaten the competition by being the

first Google-certified Android QLED TV in India. It
sports a 4K UHD panel with Quantum Dot QLED
technology with 110 per cent NTSC gamut said to
mimic real world colour volumes. The 3840x2160p
resolution display uses micro dimming to output
enhanced colour contrast and better picture quality.
Fast moving content can be seen in more detail as
MEMC (Motion Estimation Motion Compensation) and
has been further boosted by TCL’s proprietary
algorithm up to 120Hz. Coming with AI and HDR
support, 40W Harman Kardon speakers are used to
deliver the audio along with DTS post processing for

Boasting of three smartphones already, Tecno’s

Camon AI series adds another member with the
iClick2. It sports a 6.2” HD+ Super FullView display
with a 19:9 aspect ratio and almost 88 per cent
screen-to-body ratio. Underneath is a MediaTek
Helio P22 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB
internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB
via a dedicated microSD card slot. Next to the
fingerprint scanner on the back is the vertically
arranged dual camera setup housing a 13MP primary
lens and 5MP depth sensor that come with AI Bokeh
and Super Pixel mode. The notch in the front houses
a 24MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and
1.8-micron pixel size. Packing in a 3750mAh battery,
the device weighs just 145 grams and has a thickness
of 7.8mm. While there is only one configuration,
there are three colours on ofer namely Aqua Blue,
Hawaii Blue, and Midnight Black.

Honor 8X feels like a welcome departure from the

previous models in the series. Take into account the
build consisting of a premium glass finish with double

Amazon has finally delivered to a certain subset of

people clamouring for a somewhat afordable
waterproof Kindle as the Oasis was beyond the reach
for many. The 2018 Paperwhite does just that having
an IPX8 rating that renders it immersible in upto 2
metres of water for around 60 minutes. Physically it
is the same size as the previous generation but has
become thinner and lighter. The display has five
LEDs constituting the front light making it readable
in most environments. The interface has an updated
home screen that recommends books based on
reading history and can save a variety of settings like
font, size in separate profiles. This makes it easy for
multiple readers to use one Kindle. Separately sold
covers with diferent fabrics start from `1799 having
a magnetic snap-on function preventing unintended
opening. This can also lock and unlock the device
automatically.
T3 Says: The 4G model will give more mileage but

the additional 5,000 seems like a tad too much.

After exactly 1.5 years, the Amazon Fire TV Stick has

gotten company thanks to the Fire TV Stick 4K.
Alongside native 4K content streaming, It supports
Dolby Vision making it the first such device to do so
and HDR10+. Alexa is integrated into the new voice
remote that comes in the package. The Alexa skills
can be harnessed for a number of scenarios like
listening to songs, cab booking, food ordering,
checking sports scores and more. It can be paired
with Echo devices to control the television and asking
Alexa to access new apps, handle playback or search.
The bundled remote can simultaneously control both
the TV (from the extensive list) and stick as it
combines Bluetooth and multi-directional infrared
technology with a proprietary cloud based service.
The buttons present on it include one for power,
volume toggles, mute and the signature voice button.

There’s no kill like overkill seems to be the motto of

the ROG GL12CX from Asus. The desktop PC
houses within killer hardware has been surprisingly
smushed into a cabinet. It can be configured with
the latest i9-9900K CPU on the Z390
motherboard, Nvidia RTX 2080Ti with 11GB VRAM,
32GB DDR4 2666 RAM, and 256GB SSD + 1TB
HDD running on Windows 10 OS. Coming to the
exterior are sleek cuts exuding RGB lighting, a
hot-swappable SSD bay along with front and back
I/O panels. Worth noting, the CPU is factory
overclocked and cooled by a custom CoolerMaster
MasterLiquid Pro 120 closed-loop liquid cooler. A
ROG Strix Flare Mechanical keyboard and ROG
Gladius II mouse have bundled alongside. The
target audience will be niche but there won’t be
