1 Problem definition
Conveying sand in to the concrete mixing machine when a worker feed sand in to the
conveying machine.

A worker bring sand to the place close concrete mixing machine by a wheelbarrow. Then a
worker put sand in to the machine by shovel usually. Through the machine which is going to
be designed, the feeding of sand in to concrete mixture is going to be done by machine.

Requirements;

 A method which assist the operator to quantify the amount of sand added to mixture
machine.
 Ability to change the feed rate.
 Capability to adjust for different heights
 Easy to feed sand

2 Project brief
A continuos vertical bucket conveyor.

 Worker should feed sand in to container at A

which has a slanted bottom.
 The when operator switch on the machine, the
B buckets with a triangular cross section will move
collecting sand in to those buckets.
 When the buckets with sand get in to the top,
sand falls in to the angled surface from bucket before
A that.
 Then sand fall on to angled surface at B and
sent to the mixture
 A gearing mechanism is available to change
the rate of supply and an emergency stop.
 The lower plate at B can be taken for different levels so that machines of different
heights can be fed.
 The design at A is to collect all sand added by wheelbarrow.
 Machine is powered by electricity.
