Comments: Visit 2: Several BM strategies used. Using hat on head to silence Ss. This worked. Getting Ss into a circle before sitting down on the carpet.
‘Eyes on me’ to stop talking. They were a bit noisy watching the video- stop them if it gets too noisy. Some Ss standing and kneeling up after this. You did ask them if they
wanted to go to the tables. You did give a group reward after going back to the tables and reinforced acceptable behavior.
You used being silent to stop them talking also. They were shouting the response to the video- tell them explicitly that this is too loud/not acceptable and the noise level that
you do expect.

Comments: Visit 2: Pace needs to be quicker especially during activity time. This slowed down considerably when doing the whole class activity. Move
away from only whole class teaching. The last activity was given out just as the lesson was due to finish. They didn’t complete the activities. Try
to allow time for closing/review.

Visit 2: 28 Ss. The video reinforced the LO vocabulary well as the Ss joined in (obviously had this before). They get a bit noisy with this activity at
times.

Good to see you modelling writing the phrases being used today. When writing on the board ensure it is clear as the overhead was on and
couldn’t see the writing clearly. You did write them up again. You checked their understanding by saying the wrong one.

Having the whole class writing the sentences at the same time and waiting for everyone takes time and some Ss get restless. When seeing if they
could write it unaided several Ss waited for their friend to write and copied. How could this be avoided?

You had some good activities but these could have been centres for the Ss. This would have limited waiting time. Explain the activities during
haleka and then the Ss can access them independently or in turn allowing you to work with Ss more closely and assess their learning.

When they were working on the last activity they were more engaged as they were active and making decisions about what the did and didn’t
like.

You now need to show more child-centred activities, including group work and centres as well as differentiation in these activities. Extend
learning (challenge).
