I Did It!

The first of five course goals is to develop logical and thoughtful arguments in clear,

effective, grammatically correct prose, using credible evidence. I have demonstrated the ability

to write in standard academic English, identify major grammatical, stylistic, mechanical, and

punctuation errors, vary style according to the needs of various audiences, purposes, and topics.

As evidence of my learning how to recognize grammatical and punctuation errors in academic

English notice these mistakes in my draft that I later fixed in my final.

Baes 2

This is the final of my rhetorical analysis and notice how I changed bring to past tense, which is

a demonstration of me fixing an standard English grammatical error. Also notice how I fixed the

wordines of the sentence by fixing my punctuation and using it to break up the subject matter.

Another point made in the first full sentence of this snip is where I logicly noticed then clearly

explained how the author negated a possible counter-argument. I also demonstrated that I can

change my style according to the rhetorical situation. Here in my literacy narrative my style was

chronological oriented. This demonstrates

that I had one set concept but that changed later in time with the beginning of the next paragraph.

The last key point of course goal I accomplished with my informative essay

Notice how I established Moon as a credible source and then used on of her studies as evidence,

therefore I used credible evidence.

The second course goal is the ability to comprehend the importance of rhetoric as a

means of communication, persuasion, and problem-solving. I demonstrated the ability to,

identify and analyze a rhetorical situation, identify audience, purpose, persona, argument, etc. I

also wrote for audiences at appropriate levels and with appropriate purposes, and vary style

according to the needs of various audiences, purposes, and topics.

In my rhetorical analysis I address and analyze the rhetorical situation by identifying the subject

matter is being communicated to and what they are being persuaded towards. Overall I analyzed

the effectiveness of her communicating the subject. Here I also demonstrated I know the

meaning of rhetorical terms, ethos logos and pathos and can apply them to a stutions. The final

key point I proved was my ability to vary style according to situation. Here I did it based my

structure of my paper on importance while previously I did based on time.

The third course goal I accomplished was to understand that researching and writing

about an issue is a way to contribute to a larger conversation about that issue. I demonstrated the

ability to conduct research – library, web, field. I also identified critical/academic/peer-reviewed

sources as opposed to the alternatives, write a researched argument, avoid logical fallacies and

other kinds of faulty reasoning, evaluate evidence for credibility and relevance, cite/document
Baes 5

sources according to MLA format.

Notice in my informative report how I start with proper MLA format and then cite my used

sources also in MLA format. In citing my sources I ultimately documented them. I also used a
Baes 6

library, internate, and field research as visible in the above snip.

.Here I evaluated my source of evidence to use it in my paper.

I used a piece of evidence here to help explain logicly with researched evidence how the lack of

sugar can make one irritable without assuming it wasn’t the caffeine.
Baes 7

I also learned how to critically analyze and interpret nonfiction texts by discovering

purposes behind the writings and understanding the different types of rhetorical devices used to

carry out these purposes. I demonstrated the ability to summarize, analyze texts, and evaluate a

given text using set criteria.

Here I demonstrated that I thought about the text I read, critically read, and then analyzed the

text and evaluated it to try and understand the author's meaning and purpose.
Baes 8

Continuing with my rhetorical analysis I had to summarize the work I was evaluating and did so

without coping what was said verbatim and without changing the subject matter.

The final concept which is to engage critically, logically, and coherently with a variety of

perspectives, cultures, and worldviews. I demonstrated the ability to recognize cultural

differences evaluate the quality of an argument and counter argument.

In this highlighted portion I evaluated the authors argument and a counter argument by how she

negated the counter argument with her own.

Here I gathered multiple views on a subject that were cross cultural. I used this to create a

logical and understandable argument while engaging the evidence.

Based on the multiple facts provided I stand resolved that I completed all of my course

goals and objectives.
