After the Task - Reflection

Diagnostic assessment is one of the forms of pre-assessment done by the teacher to
determine the level of student learning by identifying the points of knowledge, skills,
their strengths and weaknesses. The diagnostic assessment is given at the beginning
of the semester or the beginning of the unit/subject to collect data about what the
students know about the subject. (Brummitt)
Diagnostic assessments are a set of written questions (multiple choice or short
answer). The goal is to get a snapshot of where students are currently - intellectually,
emotionally or ideologically - allowing the teacher to choose appropriate teaching
methods for students.
Diagnostic assessments are often used before and after education, where students
are given pre-post and post-identical tests to see how well students are improving
and changing.
Diagnostic assessments benefit both teachers and students, allowing the teacher to
plan for effective and meaningful teaching. When the teacher knows their abilities
and knowledge, the teacher can focus more on information that students still do not
know and this reduces the boredom of students. (Brummitt)
In the future I will apply the diagnostic assessment to students at the beginning,
middle and end of the semester, to determine the level of students and to know
what I will provide them with educational material or classroom activities and
determine the levels of groups. Each evaluation test contains multiple choice
questions, true or false, and matching. At the beginning of the semester, I will give
each student a self-assessment of the English, where the test is divided into two
types reading and writing. In mathematics, the test will consist of addition and
subtraction. In science, the test will be about plants and animal species, whether
they are living organisms or not.
These assessments affect students in terms of education, not all students are the
same level. When evaluating students and knowing their level, this will allow the
teacher to identify appropriate teaching methods for their levels and the activities
he will provide them.
