(Please read the following pages carefully in order to ensure a proper and complete
application and to avoid mistakes that may delay consideration of your application.)

Application Procedure

Required are an application form, a statement of purpose, two reference letters, and
official copies of the transcripts.
(Note: Material submitted in support of an application is not released for any other purposes
and cannot be returned to the applicant.)

Application Form: The application form must be completed fully, either typed or printed
legibly by hand. Be sure to sign the application form.

Transcripts: Two copies of transcripts, duly certified, must be submitted with the application
form. Uncertified copies are not acceptable. To be considered, all documents in languages
other than English and Urdu must be accompanied by officially certified English translations.

Application Fee: A crossed Bank Draft of Rs. 500.00 written in the name of Pakistan
Institute of Development Economics, Islamabad should be submitted along with the
application form.

For M.Phil. and Ph.D. Programmes

Statement of Purpose: Write 300–600 words giving a concise view of your special
interest/project in the subject and how the PIDE PhD can help you to realise it.

Reference Letters: Two reference letters are required. They should be written by persons best
qualified to testify to your professional experience and your capacity for graduate work.
Evaluators should use the forms included in the application package and should return the
letters of recommendation in sealed envelops.

English Proficiency Requirement: The students are required to submit proof of English
proficiency. Foreign students must submit a TOEFL (or equivalent test) score of 550 (no older
than two years).

Application Deadline: The application deadline for the Fall 2007 semester is 23rd July, 2007.
