4th Sunday of Advent

Over the next few days, we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent at the Saturday
Vigil and on Sunday. Then we celebrate the Nativity of Our Lord at the Vigil
Mass on Christmas Eve and again at the Mass on Christmas Day. Note that our
Christmas Day Mass schedule is not the same as last year’s schedule.

During this holy season we especially welcome visitors from out of town and
people who have been away from church for one reason or another. We warmly
welcome you here and hope that you find this church community on Arch Street to
be inspiring to you. You are welcome here anytime.

During the next few days, the second collection at the Masses for the fourth
Sunday of Advent and for Christmas will be for our medical clinic for homeless
women. Mary Ann Ponti, our Director of Outreach Services, and Boston Health
Care for the Homeless Program have a wonderful partnership in this work. The
collection is to cover some of the expenses of this clinic, which is open on
Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This clinic has far exceeded our expectations and has
been very effective in meeting the complex needs of a very vulnerable population
in downtown Boston. Thank you for your generosity in helping us to do this
work.

May the joy of Christmas fill your heart. May the birth of Our Savior inspire you
in love. On behalf of the 25 friars of the Shrine and Fr. Frank Sevola, the
Guardian of the Franciscan Community, I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Fr. Thomas Conway, OFM
