Introduction
Background of UOL
Established in 1999.
Ibadat Education trust aimed to establish a university with all the internal standards named as UOL, It is a
private university of Pakistan. It has 35,000+ students and 7 campuses. Following are the 7 cities with UOL
current campuses.

1. Sihala , Islamabad 4. Pakpattan


2. Sargodha 5. Defense Road, Lahore
3. Gujrat 6. Raiwand Road, Lahore

All the campuses are running successfully. The main campus is the UOL Lahore defense road campus. It has 40
departments and 11 faculties. It is progressing each year and becoming a huge source of inspiration for the new
graduates. The University of Lahore is ranked at W4 category by Higher Education Commission (HEC). The
staff, Faculty, Teaching Quality and environment is of international level. All the programs are offered by the
university in respective field’s medicine & dentistry, engineering, arts, social sciences.

UOL as an organization
The University of Lahore is a talent filled organization. It is growing and improving in all aspects day by day. It
has the best and high qualified professors and mentors. Accreditation of all the programs is performed to ensure
the students a prosperous future. UOL is recognized by HEC, PM&DC, PEC, Pharmacy Council of Pakistan,
Pakistan Nursing Council, Pakistan Bar Council, NBEAC & NCEAC.

Industry Overview of UOL & Role in Education sector


Industry of UOL is fresh. It needs time and effort to become powerful gear for development. The collective
effort of university and industry can result in groundbreaking research. There are HEC recognized universities
in Pakistan, public and private sector. Programs with diverse disciplines are offered in all the universities. In the
world QS ranking 2015-2016, Six Pakistani are positioned in top 800 universities of the world.

UOL is ranked at 701 positions. University has invested resources in commercialization and business
likewise the LBS department is working quite efficiently.

UOL Reason of Existence


The basic reason is the prosperity of the country by vanishing the illiterates. The university of Lahore aims to
produce such gems that will become Scholars and entrepreneurs.
University creates Maximum graduates with A+ grade. The chairman Awais Raouf Kamboh and other
academic staff have faith and essence of leadership. Research based study is improving in the university.
UOL Mission & Vision
The broad mission of UOL is not just to provide quality education to its students but it is to enhance the
working, personality, thinking capabilities of its students. The university makes sure that there is no
discrimination in the organization on the bases of caste color and creed either in students or the faculty.
International students are offered all the privileges.
The personality development of the students and ability for technical thinking is the basic vision.

UOL role in Pakistan


Every organization big or small, affects the society. UOL is a fastest growing educational center. The thousands
of students getting their degrees from UOL each year are making their career but also representing the
university. When a person give interview, his or her educational background and institute matter. While
evaluating companies take into account the skills and quality of education of the internee.

Analysis
The present business and mission of the university is to graduate and master such extra ordinary apprentices
that excel in all fields of study. The labs and research centers offer unlimited opportunities to revolutionize the
technological world.

SWOT Analysis of UOL


The SWOT analysis takes into account the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to an organization in
external environment. It is essential to analyze the performance, profit and needs of organization.
Strengths of the university include its vast number of students, faculty members and departments. All the
departments are well equipped respective to its field. One of the most effective strength is the name of
university that attracts the learners.

Weaknesses of the organization ultimately lead it to success and prosperity, same goes for UOL. Its drawback
is that university has low merit that makes it unable to produce experts. It lowers the reputation of the
organization. The main campus of defense road is located in the backward area. Due to which less people prefer
to take admission in this university. Sis online system of university is poor; students and faculty face many
issues while enrollment or attendance checks. Policies prevailing in the university are not user friendly.

Threats are to every organization from other organizations that are more successful in their sector. Likewise
UOL has threat from LUMS, FAST & UMT. The fees are high of the IT departments. The education standards
are not satisfactory as compared to other universities with equal fee structure. One of most common threats to
universities is of its student body.

Opportunities are always present for the growth and enlargement of the organization. Girl’s hostel within the
premises of the defense campus is quite in favor for the university so if boys hostel is established than it would
be very beneficial. Opening more campuses in other cities can contribute in the status of the university.
Expanding the campus of gujrat and Sargodha is another good option. Best opportunity for talented students is
offering them scholarship.
Strategic Planning

Goals for UOL


1. The quality of education should be improved in UOL.
2. Build software house.
3. Internships offering to the students while their undergraduate course.
4. To develop student’s professional skills interactive projects should be presented to them.
5. Case based education practiced by master’s students or scenario based learning.
6. Hiring consultant to guide and educate student body.
7. All the privileges of university in range of all the students and faculty of the organization.
8. Collaborate with other educational organizations to expand in positive direction.
9. Implementation of new teaching methods.
10. Investing on research centers.

Course of Action for Attaining Goals


It takes time for every organization to be its best. The quality of education can be improved by correct selection
of faculty members by the authority.
 Demo should be taken by the teachers, workshops should hold on weekends.
 The software industry of Pakistan is undeveloped. Making a company with the university tag would be a
great notion but its maintenance and requirements should be fulfilled. Because software house is not just
about software development but its technology and distribution is also necessary.
 Student problems are only handled well when the middle managers work sincerely. The middle level staff of
UOL is not reasonable so supporting staff should be hired.
 Research in IT fields is almost nonexistent so it a challenge for the university. Using the international
linkages, university can advance in research. New teaching methods of case based study can highly improve
the performance

Implementing and Evaluating the Strategic Plan


Within 2 – 3 years of hard work university can attain its goals. The changes are to be made in different unit so
the solutions are also not the same to implement the different strategic plans.
 Organizing workshops for the teachers on weekends and extra coaching programs can be best for the
implementation of teaching methods. This coaching can be through online videos for less hectic routine.
Help from Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) can also be beneficial. Scenario based learning technique
should be applied by professors to develop professional skills in the students.
 Software house setup is difficult to assemble at initial stage. Convincing organizational policies can readily
help. Computers, programming applications, data storage capability, servers and all of the necessary tools
are equipped for the development of software.
 Consultant or a Student helper of every program should guides the students about the opportunities they can
avail.
Performance Evaluation
After the strategic planning, implementation and evaluation, the performance of UOL can lead towards
improvement day by day. There is a positive relation between the performance and implementation of a plan.
Re-examining the direction of strategic plans would judge the lifeline and quality of plans.

Conclusion
Competencies of a person, organization or a company can never be entirely identified. It is a helpful thing
because every time you identify your skills you discover ability, never utilized before. Hence, in an organization
employees are serving a major part so grooming of employees is essential for the growth of the company and
individual.
Ethical leadership builds confidence in the employees. It boosts the moral and motivated the employees to attain
the goals of the organization. A committed body of employees is all that a company needs to make progress.
UOL is also an emerging organization; all it needs to flourish is a strategic plan and committed employees,
faculty, workers in all levels. If the connection of top management with lower level managers is built strongly
then trust prevails. Only then the rules and regulations are followed.
