1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from completing this field
experience?

This field experience was accomplished during one of the weeks of Maker Camp that I helped to facilitate this summer. For this
particular week, I worked as a curriculum lead to research, design, and organize maker activities and events for students in grades
5-8.

During this week, I learned that one of the most important things we can do for students is to allow them time to learn. We were
not able to have the students participate in all of the things we planned, however, we (and the parents and students) were pleased
with the quality of product that was produced. It was a valuable reminder that education, and technology integration, is not always
about quantity.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs,
enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected above. Use the language of the PSC
standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)

Knowledge – This field experience showed me that it is important that technology leaders should be aware and knowledgeable about the research based
strategies and methods. It is important to be utilizing tools in the most efficient manner and to provide authentic learning opportunities and to promote higher
order thinking skills.

Skills – The instructional coach should be able to differentiate in their instruction. It is important that we utilize technology to the benefit of everyone, and
technology leaders need to be able to provide just-in-time direct instruction for students when it is needed.

Dispositions – Technology leaders need to persistent and diligent in ensuring that students and teachers are using technology in the most effective ways.
During this field experience, we stopped to discuss the ideas of digital citizenship several times. As we worked with a new device or tool we made sure to
talk about the benefits, the distractions and the dangers of using each tool/device.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be
assessed?

As part of my capstone research for this program, I am working with teachers at my schools to align learning experiences (like
Maker activities, coding and programming options, etc.) with classroom content. Participating in this week of planning and
facilitating, I have a more clear understanding of how activities can fit in with various pieces of content. And again, I learned that
it is important to allow students time to work through these activities.
