Te SCENE: The stage is slightly raked and made up of wooden planks. Upstage and slightly right of Center is ‘a Marine Seniry Tower, in front of which, running the width of the stage, is a barbed-wire fence. The only “other set pieces are plain wooden tables and chairs which will be moved throughout the play by the actors. AIl settings of the play will be created by light, sound, clothing and text. For the Broadway production, Ben Edward's set had three levels. In this script. the Downstage level is referred to as #1, the middle level #2, and the top level #3. Scenes will frequently overlap, with the end of one scene bleeding into the beginning of the next AT RISE: LIGHTS up on Dawson and Downey. with two MP's standing behind them, DAWSON.
