1. Purpose
The common thread throughout the SOP and HWD Policies and Procedures in general is
the identification of responsibilities. This manual is intended to clearly and concisely
identify the steps required by employees to complete any given operation in a manner
that is consistent with Horizontal Well Drillers standards. It will document progressive
steps required in sequence that are to be followed, an authorizing company department or
position, and an author that is to be consulted if there are questions in any portion of the
SOP standards.

3. Prerequisites
Personnel are required to wear proper personal protective equipment, follow job safety
rules, and have the appropriate experience and certifications to carry out their job
functions satisfactorily.
4. Responsibilities
Designated employees are required to use Company-owned vehicles to carry out their
duties. When the vehicles are not being used for business, they will be kept on Company
premises, unless temporarily located elsewhere for repairs. Under certain circumstances
and manger discretion, employees may be allowed to take Company vehicles home.
Personal use of Company vehicles is prohibited without management approval. This
policy applies to all HWD employees
5. Procedure
1. The employee must possess a valid operator’s license for the class of vehicle being
driven.
2. The employee is responsible for the safe and proper parking and securing of all cargo.

3. The employee is responsible for checking the vehicle at the beginning of each work
day for safety and maintenance features, and completing proper inspection logs.
4. All accidents must be reported immediately to your supervisor and local police. If a
supervisor is not available or onsite, the accident should be reported to the corporate
office immediately.
5. In cases of accidents that could have been preventable, or where the employee is
determined to be at fault, the employee will be responsible for paying the deductible up to
$500.
6. Cell phones may not be used while driving, unless the vehicle is equipped with a
hand-free device.
7. Drivers will abide by all material and guidelines that are contained within the HWD
Fleet Safety Program. Drivers shall be aware of and comply with the Fleet Procedures.
