Dialogues:
 Good evening people. Reportase Siang is back to accompany you with the newest,
warmest and the most actual news with me, KeziahImmanuela, on Thursday 12nd
January 2018. The new activity of Mount Agung has just shown an increase. Even
though, PVMBG assured there is no sign or activity of the volcanic material.
According to the data on Wednesday at 12am to 8am Central Indonesia Time, its been
recorded that there has been 108 times of volcanic earthquake and tectonic earthquake
for 13 times. Although there is an increase in seismicity but visually there has not
been any increase in eruption in Gunung Agung. At this time Mount Agung stated in
the status of awas, society then is prohibited to do any activity within a radius 12km
from the top of Mount Agung. For more information will be submitted by my
colleagues Natasha who are already in the scene location. "Good colleagues Natasha
please pass on the information you got.
 Well, Thanks Natasha for reporting. Yes before Mount Agung's eruption in 1963 was
among the most catastrophic volcanic events in Indonesian history. After initial
explosion in the crater on February 18th, last traveling 7 km over the next three
weeks. On March 17, a highly explosive eruption occurred, killing at least 1,500
people, then around 2017 happened several times mounting activity of Mount Agung,
November 25, 2017 a result of 1.5-4 eruption plot km above the summit crater,
drifting towards the south and dusting the surroundings with a thin layer of dark ash.
Then we can conclude that the activity began to rise seismicity that makes people
around Mount Agung had fled to the nearest posco - posco. And for information we
have reporter Sarah who will convey information directly from the refugee camps
Turamben, Karangasem
 Thanks for our reporter, Genisa reported straight from the scene. The information is
the final segment of this afternoon news. We all hope Mount Agung will go back to
the normal situation and people can continue their usual activities. I am Keziah
Immanuela, thanks for watching Reportase Sore and good afternoon.

Dialogues:
 Thank you Keziah. Viewers, since 22 September 2017, the status of eruption of
Mount Agung which is located in Karangasem, Bali has been increased from “siaga
status” to become “awas status”. Based on data received, there have been 570 times
tectonic activity and it happened significantly. Now I'm at the Observation Institution
PVMBG Karangasem, Bali which is located at 10km from the top of Mount AgungI
will directly interview Mr Kasbani as chairman of the PVMBG team that is right
beside me. Yes good afternoon sir, how is Mount Agung now?
 You said that the material supply in mount agung increased. Does it mean that Mount
Agung today could be upgraded from previous levels of alert status? Or maybe the
status of Mount Agung could decrease?
 Then how do people view the earthquake that happened? Is the society traumatized?
because as we know that the eruption of Mount Agung that was worrying on 25
November 2017 yesterday gives impact to the community.
 So the earthquake has warned people around the mount for not doing activities in the
prohibited area. Then has the signs of increased eruption visible yet? Because visually
mount agung has released volcanic ash which is very visible clear
 Can you share what are the signs of eruption? because there are still many people out
there who may not know it so they are difficult to be evacuated.
 But didn’t the sign that you mentioned already happen? As the smoke pool and the
increase of earthquake frequency?
 Seeing that condition, are there any possibility that the activity of the mount could
decrease from “awas” status into “siaga” status?
 So, the signs had occurred and there is no signs for a decreased status.well, how
about the people around GunungAgung? Are they going to be evacuated for now or
the alert status for now is still safe for the people around who still live in their own
homes?
 Well, thank you Mr. Kasbani as the chairman of the PVMBG team. That was my live
report with Mr. Kasbani, the chairman of PVMBG team. It can be concluded that
there has been significant increase on the earth quake activity.the activities that occur
on Agung mountain will continue to improve and the PMVBG team will also
continue to observe the condition of the mountain. But people are advised not to be

5
influenced by the untruth rumorsThat’s the information I can convey. I am Natasha
reported. Back to studio Keziah.

3. M. Irsyad Hawari as Head of PVMBG

Dialogues:
 For now there may be more occurrence volcanic mount Agung progressed, meaning
that the material supply in Mount Agung increased as well. But in the future we’ll be
monitoring it.
 We all know that until today, Mount Agung status has already reached level 4,
“waspada status” and the earthquake is still significant and tend to increase
consistently. For the last 6 hours, volcanic earthquake occurred around 270 times.later
we will monitor again whether the earthquake volcanic or tectonic earthquake that
happened increased drastically or decreased so that we can give status to society.
 The public is ready for alert, because the earthquake has happened several times. The
Earthquake has started from Monday yesterday which makes people cautious to do
the activity around Mount Agung. Therefore, we urge the people for not doing
activities around the forbidden area, which is around the mountain.
 Visually it is already visible volcanic ash coming out from Mount Agung which has
reached 3000m height. It is already a sign of increased activity from Mount Agung
but for eruption the specific signs may not come out yet.
 For the signs, starting from how hard the volcanic earthquakes are, followed by the
increasing of shallow volcanic earthquake, and some occurences of tremor. A lot of
tremors will occur and it only takes a few minutes. Later, number of animals descends
from the mountains, the frequency of earthquakes that occur increases with scale too,
white smoke coming out of the mountain.
 Yes it has happened some, but we are still monitoring for eruption. So now, we better
prepare for the worst that could happen to us
 Untill now, there is no signs from the mount activity that it could decrease, so as i
said, we should prepare for the worst that could happen
 The Awareness Status is the most probable condition of the eruption to happen. The
Cautionary Status refers to the main eruption which continued with the initial
eruption, followed by bursts of ash and steam. So we, from the PVMBG team and
other volunteers have been evacuating the people who live around Mount Agung to
the nearest posts.

4. Sarah Muktafikah as 2nd Reporter
Dialogues:
 Thank you Keziah, viewers, now I am already in refugee camp
TurambenKarangasem, Bali which is located at 15km from the top of Mount Agung.
As you know that mount Agung erupts again. As you can see the condition of the
refuge situation is crowded by the surrounding the people who have been evacuated.
And now I will interview one of the victims . Good afternoon sir, sorry to interrupt.
Can I ask you some questions about the evacuation here? with whom Im speaking to?
 Well thank you very much Mr.Nyoman for your time. How is the current condition
for this Turamben refuge? Is it sufficient for various facilities in this evacuation?
 You said the facilities here are quite adequate in terms of what, Sir? whether from
basic materials or anything else? And what’s the total estimated loss of the
community because of this impact?
 So the people got to pick up some things that can useful from their home to posco
before they have to evacuate, Then have all the people around the mountain been
evacuated ?
 So there are still some people who don’t want to be evacuated because of the demands
of their work and they won’t be able to leave their farm, And how is the process of
evacuation of society at the time of the eruption, Sir?
 So you have prepared the thing that you want to save before the pickup, and how
many people are in this refugee camp? Then is there only one camp refuge around
Karangasem area, Sir?
 Which we know the government take part in handling of this eruption. And what the
kind of help do you get? Well, then what kind of help is really needed for refugee
victims around this area?
 As we know MountAgung erupted around last 25th of november. So with the
occurrence of the return of activity from Mount Agung does it cause trauma to the
surrounding people around mount Agung?
 Well, thank you very much MrNyoman. And we can conclude that the activities of the
mount Agung make the people around the mountain have to evacuated but there are
some people who choose to stay at home, and this Turamben refugee camp is one of
the other 9 posco refuge for eruption of Mount Agung. And we hope mountAgung
back to normal so that people can move back and doing their activities as usual That's
information I can tell, Sarah back to the studio, Keziah.

5. M. Fadhillah D Z as Eruption Victim
Dialogues:
 Good afternoon, Yes it’s okaywith my pleasure . I'm Mr. I GedeNyomanWirya or can
be called Mr.Nyoman
 For refuge situation here as well as other evacuation posts. We just want to evacuate
ourselves and the family from the eruption of the mountain. And for facilities in
poscoare quite adequate.
 Yes it can be seen we all use the things that we saved from our home such as mattres,
blankets, clothes, and many things that can useful in refuge camp. And for estimates
loss I do not know but people have left their fields and homes for granted.
 For the evacuation of almost everyone around the mountain has been evacuated by the
team, but some families still do not want to leave their homesbecause most of them
are farmers who require them to keep their fields. But for the activity the people
around mount Agung mostly work as farmers. Due to the latest activity of mount
Agung, people prefer to leave their farm.andmost schools are closed for now but some
volunteers from yesterday have beenteaching the children .
 So it was about 8 pm when the earthquakes happened up to 8 times but with low
frequency then our people who previously knew about the eruption thing had prepared
themselves, so at about 10 pm the team had picked us up using a truck.
 For what I know from volunteers maybe there are about 17,800 people who have been
evacuated from the mountain. And there are about 9 posts scattered in the karangasem
area, 8 in the district and 1 in the city area.
 Yes of course the government help us such as providing posts and aid clothing, food
and evacuate people who are still around the mountain and help the victims who are
in the refuge. I think we need may be like basic foodstuffs, then blankets, breathing
masks, some books and magazine for children.
 We are not traumatized but may be more watchful because the time lag from the last
eruption until now is short enough so that we are always wary of another eruption of
Mount Agung.Because we have a family so we are afraid something will happen in
the future and also because of the location of our house that has risks from Mount
Agung so we are required to always be ready

6. Genisa Chairurahima as 3rd Reporter
Dialogues:
 Yes well thanks Keziah's companion. Good day viewers, Im Genisa reporting directly
from the eruption of Mount Agung eruption. This refugee looks more crowded than
the previous day. Here also seen many victims of the majority of children under five
and elderly. I am here with one of the volunteers who helped in evacuating victims of
the eruption of the great mountains. Good afternoon sir, I am here to talk to whom?
 Are you bound in a community organization? Or something like human organization?
 What do you think about the current refugee situation? Is it sufficient for various
facilities in this evacuation? Is the need for refugees sufficient?
 So the government's help is not enough for the refugees here. Is the aid only coming
from the government or is there other assistance from other organizations?
 Then how is the situation around the place of eruption? Are there still residents who
live there? Or staying at their home ?
 So there are still many people who live in their house. Did you tell the people to
evacuate? Because at any time Mount Agung can erupt again.
 Then what about the residents who still live in his house? Did the volunteers come to
the residential home to help, or the people who came to the refugee camp?
 Because of the large number of travelers, do you think there is an effort to minimize
the number of casualties and loss of property due to volcanic eruptions?
 Ohh, so those are the efforts to minimize casualties and loss of property such as Be
aware of mudflow and help your neighbors. And, what if the ashes from mountain is
falling? The ashes still dangerous to people isn’t it?
 Ohh, so if people can’t evacuate, they should remain indoors, use a safety equipment
and avoid the volcanic ash. And also stay indoors until the condition outdoor is
improve.
 Fine, thank you very much Mr. Topan , may the refugees of Mount Agung can return
to their respective homes and can move back as normal. And we can conclude that the
refugees here have received help from the government and from the community
organizations. Also there are efforts to minimize casualties and loss of property due to
volcanic eruptions . That's the information I can tell, I am Genisa back to the studio.

7. M Topan Setiajaya as Volunteer
Dialogues:
 Good afternoonmam, My name is Muhammad Topan.
 Yes, I am avolunteer from the Indonesian Red Cross, I have been following this
organization for 3 years.
 The current situation of refuge is quite conducive, the staple goods sent by the
government have been coming. However, for blankets and clothing still very less for
the refugees.
 Yes the government's aid is already sufficient for the refugees here. Help from
organizations of social organizations also gradually inflamed. His help is nothing but
groceries, medicine, clothing, and blankets. However, we still lack blankets and
clothing for the elderly and toddlers.
 Most houses that is not far from Mount Agung, is covered all the ashes. Many houses
and fields are damaged. There are still residents who settle in their homes, because
they still feel comfortable in their homes, and many people still save their treasures
and valuables
 We as volunteers here, have urged the residents to evacuate in the evacuation. It is not
safe to stay at home when GunungAgung is still on standby.
 We come to the house of the citizens to help. Because after all, we have to help the
people.
 Yes, there are some efforts to minimize the number of victims, we told them how to
survive when the mount is erupting. So things to do when it is erupting are:
1. Look upstream before crossing a bridge and do not cross the bridge if a mudflow is
approaching. The danger from a mudflow increases near stream channels and with
prolonged heavy rains. Mudflows can move faster than you can walk or run.
2. Remember to help your neighbors who may require special assistance - infants,
elderly people and people with access and functional needs
 Yeah, thats true.well that’s the continuation of ways to survive from eruption.
3. If you are unable to evacuate, and in order to protect yourself from falling ash, you
should remain indoors with doors, windows and ventilation closed until the ash
settles.
4. Use goggles and wear eyeglasses instead of contact lenses.
5. Use a dust mask or hold a damp cloth over your face to help with breathing.

10
6. Stay away from areas downwind from the volcano to avoid volcanic ash.
7. Last but not least, Close doors, windows, and all ventilation in the house and stay
indoors until the ash has settled.
 yes, that’s true. Yeah, thats true. If BMKG has notified that the mountain has been
alerted one, then citizens are advised for emergency response and do the step that I
mentioned before.
