Semi- Detailed Lesson Plan in Physical Science Grade 8

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, 75% of the students should be able to:

a. Define what is gravity

b. Appreciate the importance of gravity
c. Execute the activities in regards of the topic

II. SUBJECT MATTER

a. Topic: Gravity
Sub- topic: Law of Gravity
b. Reference: Science Vistas Grade 8 K-12( pp. 78- 80)
c. Materials: laptop, projector, visual aids, marker, white board, balloons, spray,
coin, peso bill, boiled egg, cup, newspaper, tape.

III. LESSON PROPER

a. Routinely Activities: prayers, greetings, checking of attendance

b. Motivation
 Games (Coin Balance on a Peso Bill) – The teacher will group the
students into three groups, then there are three volunteer students in
every group who will balance the coin on a peso bill in the chair
afterwards their co- members will transfer it in another chair. The
fastest one will consider as the winner.
c. Discussion
1. The teacher will ask the students what happened on the activity, and then
she will ask their ideas about gravity and who discovered it.
2. The teacher will group the students into three and perform the activity in
just three minutes.
a. First group, the representative will perform the “Coke- Can
Pirouette”
b. Second group, the representative will perform the “Egg-Parachute”
c. Third group, the representative will perform the “Wet Balloon”
3. The teacher will discuss the meaning of gravity and the center of gravity.
4. The teacher will discuss the importance of gravity in our lives.
5. The teacher will ask questions and ask her students to give their own
examples regarding the topic.

IV. GENERALIZATION

Gravity is a force pulling together all matter (which is anything you can
physically touch). The more matter, the more gravity, so things that have a lot
of matter such as planets and moons and stars pull more strongly.

V. EVALUATION

A. Multiple Choice

DIRECTION: Encircle the correct answer of the following questions.

1. The acceleration due to gravity on Earth is

a. -9.8 m/s² c. -9.6 m/s²
b. -9.7 m/s²

2. Everything that you throw up, must come down.

a. True b. False

3. Who proposed the law of gravity?

a. Isaac Newton c. Galileo Galilie
b. Blaise Pascal

4. The point where the result of parallel forces is the total weight of the body
a. Center of gravity c. Point of weight
b. Point of force

5. Is a force pulling together all matter

a. Gravity c. Work
b. b. Force

VI. ASSIGNMENT
