The Importance of Math

In this article PR Newswire talks about the importance of math. Math is one of the

subject that us students tend to struggle with the most. I believe this is because most

people usually tend to always state that math is hard and that they never understood it. It

is said that math is still considered to be one of the most challenging subjects but also it is

the most important one in my opinion.

In the article “Taking on math difficulties: Helping children and youth who

struggle” it states that math is not just important but also that it is everywhere now in our

modern world. For example it says that we are now constantly being presented with

numbers, data, and statics like on media, the internet etc.It also states that now it is more

important than ever. Another key factor that can be important would be that not all but

some students suffer from math anxiety which is something that stops them from

understanding math.

The article from Pi Day states 10 reasons why math is so important in life. I

personally believe that math is so important because it’s in our life everyday and

basically we are always using it. To start it off math is first of all good for your brain,

because it helps in better decision making. It is also useful when you get into the real

world and have to start paying things. For example it helps with finances and other things.

To top it off math is basically used in every career and it can help you save a whole lot of

money when it comes to knowing how much to spend and not to.

In the article from Grade Power it is talking about why students struggle with

math. One of the main reasons why students tend to struggle with math is because they

try to do it then give up because “its too hard”. Another reason could be that some

students tend to have math anxiety, which is not a disorder or anything. It’s more of a

fear that they can’t understand and fear that they are going to fail. Like for example, the

pressure that they have on them. Also the lack of confidence they have towards math.

The article “Thought Co.” is talking about why math is the most difficult for some

students. The lack of not understanding the topic and then the teacher moving onto the

next topic is what makes it difficult. Due to the fact that they are barely starting to

understand the first topic and just having that pressure in general. Another thing is that

students who struggle with math tend to give up once they’ve achieved like a C+.

Knowing that if they fail a test their grade will drop. So some advice would be to atleast

get a B+ and do all the homework so in case they fail a test or something they won’t have

to worry that much about their grade dropping that low.
