As the Army Reserve's force structure becomes rebalanced, additional incentives
will likely be reduced or eliminated. The Army Reserve does not anticipate a need
to increase the types or amounts of incentives within the foreseeable future.

A PREMIER SOLDIER
Hello everyone! I am SPC Valerie Duenas, I am originally from Victoria, Mexico, and I currently live in
Corpus Christi, Texas. I graduated from Foy H. Moody High school in the year 2009 and I have not started
college, due to training purposes. I hold the 88H MOS in the 554th Transportation Detachment. I have been in
the Army Reserves for a little over a year now, and I have been with "The Premier" unit in Sinton, Texas ever
since. My basic training was held in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, between the months of October and
December. There, I became "physically and mentally tough". I was able to reach all my goals and come home
with more than I expected, like the 'pt stud' title. Though I have not been able to reach 300, my highest score is a
298. I joined the Army for school benefits and because I always hoped to be one of those few strong minded
females. I have many relatives in the military, and I am proud to be one of them. My battle buddy is PFC Landa.
I have know him for about five years now and I can trust my life to be put in his hands if we are both in the
battle field, just as I would with anyone else in this great unit. Most days I try to live by a different motto, but
my personal favorite I found it in my grandmas refrigerator magnet, it says, " When your heart is in your
dreams, then no wish is to extreme" by H. Roosevelt. With that, I know that if I set my mind to anything, I will
eventually reach my goals, no matter how hard or big the obstacles are.
