Sizes 25mm (1in) and smaller shall be Coarse Thread Series (UNC) and sizes larger than 25 mm (1 in) shall be 8-Thread Series (8 UN). Threads shall be machine cut or rolled. 5.13.9 Openings in vessels shall be the following minimum distances, measured from the toe of the nozzle weld, from any major structural discontinuity, where D is the nozzle outside diameter and ty, is the minimum required thickness of the shell or head being analyzed, a. The greater of 1.81 (D*t,.,) or 50 mm (2 in) for vessels in either cyclic or creep service. b. The lesser of 1.8) (D"th,) or 50 mm (2 in) for all other vessels, 5.13.13 All inside edges of nozzles and connections, whether flush or extended, shall be rounded off to a radius of at least 3 mm (1/8 in). 5.13.14 Nozzle reinforcement should not limit the MAWP of the vessel. Reinforcing elements shall have a tapped DN 8 (/, " NPT) telltale hole packed with grease suitable for operating temperature following the hydrotest. When multi- segmental reinforcing elements are used, each piece shall have a telltale hole, Flange boltholes shall straddle the normal centrelines of the vessel. 5.16.16 [Nameplates shall be 1 st less steel or nonferrous material to UNS NO440\ unless| nameplate shall be used. Nameplate configuration shall comply with Standard Drawing $ 10.114. The Principal may specify modified nameplate brackets to comply with local requirements. The nameplate bracket should be attached to a non-insulated, non-removable part of the pressure vessel (e.g,, skirt) The external surface of pressure vessels shall be prepared and painted in accordance with either DEP 30.48.00.31-Gen. for onshore applications or DEP 70.48.11.30-Gen. for offshore facilities. Tolerances for pressure vessels shall be in accordance with (Appendix 2) or the applicable code of construction, whichever is more restrictive ¢. Hydrostatic test pressure shall be determined in accordance with the code used for construction except Maximum Allowable Pressure (MAP) shall be used in lieu of MAWP. The vessel shall be held at full test pressure (+ 1.0 %, -0.0%) for at least 45 min. All equipment shall be thoroughly dried after hydrotest. LEAK TESTING All reinforcing pads shall be pneumatically tested at a gauge pressure of 150 kPa (25 psi). CLEANING All pressure vessels shall be cleaned prior to shipment. All siag, debris, grt, scale, weld rod stub ens, sand, water and oer foreign material shall be removed from the vessel prior to shipment. Additional ce Ufed prior to placing in service. Special attention is needed for Pressure vessels in gaseous oxygen service, see DEP 31.10.11.31-Gen, 82 PACKAGING 821 Service gaskets and spare parts shall be separately packaged for shipment. Detailed packing lists, clearly describing the packages and their contents, shall be submitted to the purchaser for review prior to shipment. All packages shall be separately identified by package number and have vessel tag number clearly indicated 822 All bolting and other small parts shall be suitably packaged and identified to avoid loss or damage during shioment. 823 The Manufacturer/Supplier shall ensure the exterior surfaces of pressure vessels fabricated from stainless steel are adequately protected from chloride exposure. 824 — Machined surfaces, flange faces other than those furnished with permanent blinds, and other finished or delicate parts shall be protected against rusting and damage during shipment 825 Nozzles shall be provided with substantial covers, and manways shall have the covers attached with new bolts and new gaskets for shipping purposes. a. All flange faces other than those furnished with permanent blinds shall be covered ‘with @ minimum 6 mm (1/4 in) steel of similar P number as flange face, no smaller than the flange ©.D., and secured with a minimum of four bolts with a soft gasket between the cover and the flange. b. Welding stub ends shall be provided with steel or plastic weld bevel protectors, Closures shall prevent the entry of moisture during shipment and subsequent storage. d. Adequate means against moisture ingress shall be taken on the flange faces, e.g, waterproof tape, plastic sealant or similar 226 Telltale weep holes in reinforcing pads, corrosion plates, etc., shall be packed with grease 827 — Bolts and nuts shall be coated with a suitable thread lubricant to prevent galling or corrosion during transport and outdoor storage. The lubricant shall be removable with mineral spirits or a solvent. Copper or molybdenum disulfide containing thread lubricants shall not be used.
