APPLIED MATHEMATICS CAPE UNIT 1 SBA

The overall content of this year’s SBA was improved as in comparison to last year. The
topics chosen were all widespread and very relatable. Topics such as; a comparison
hours of spent sleeping and a student’s academic performance. There was a decline in
the quality of the titles given to the research projects. Some students used one word
titles, while others used titles that were not explaining clearly the main gest of their
report. The variable declaration and description was not properly done and sometimes it
was not done at all. The references were missing for most of the reports.

The teachers’ assessment is still lenient, with no improvement as in comparison to last

year.

The students need to work closely to their instructors when developing their reports,
either their teachers give them clear guideline to follow or they are asked to follow the
marking scheme on the cxc website.
