MAPEH UNIT
August 30, 2018
I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to do the following:
1. Identify the musical elements used in the Vocal Music of Japan, China,
and Korea
2. Recognize the similarities and differences of the Vocal Music of Japan,
China, and Korea
3. Performs East Asian vocal music with appropriate pitch and rhythm.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic: Japan, China, and Korea (Vocal Music)


B. Materials: Laptop, Projector, Speakers, PPT Presentation
C. References: Music & Arts of Asia (Grade 8 Module)

Motivation:
The teacher will group the class into 5. The teacher will play recordings of
different Asian Music. Each group will write their observation about the music. The
groups will also pick a representative to read their observations to the class.

A. Activating Prior Knowledge


After the activity, the teacher will now relate the activity to the lesson. The teacher will
activate the prior knowledge of the students through the following questions:
1. Are you familiar with these recordings?
2. What do you think is this all about?

B. Acquiring New Knowledge


To follow is the discussion about:
1. Vocal Music of Japan, China and, Korea

C. Application
Activity #1.
After the discussing, the teacher will divide the class into 5 groups. The teacher
will play audio or audiovisual presentations and each group must identify the musical
elements used in the Asian Music.
D. Assessment
After the group activity, the students will now have an individual activity. The teacher will
play recordings of Asian Music. The students will write the similarities and differences
they have observed.

III. Evaluation

Activity #2.
The students will have an individual performance test. They will choose one from
these songs (Arirang, Sakura, Mo Li Hua) and they will sing it in front of the teacher.
